Here (http://unoriginal.co.uk/newvideos/UNORIGINAL.CO.UK%20-%20%20Octopus.wmv).

I saw that on Discovery channel. That's awesome.

It is spooky isn't it? Looks like the kind of thing you would see in a sci-fi movie.

anyone know if they've figured out how the creature does that? Is it a visually related trick or something else that allows them to do that?

That's just awesome. Yeah, figure out how to do that and you'd be on the top of the pentagon payroll.

Ocotpuses are some of my FAVOURITE animals. They're just waaaay kewl & more intelligent than most of the other critters out there.

Many octopuses can change the pigmentation of their skin and they are mostly liquid, which is why they can squeeze through TINY openings. Their ability to mimic is (as the video shows) just amazing!

I've wanted to have one as a pet for a while now, but taking care of a tank large enough for a decent sized octopus just takes too much time. Not to mention the cost of feeding one. And that they're smart enough to get out of just about any container you could put them in.

What's kewl is if you drop by an aquarium or store where they have a decent sized octopus and that'll let you interact with one, is how they grip. Just about anything that touches their tentacles will get gripped and pulled towards their mouth. It's a weird, soft yet firm, velvety, slippery feeling.

Waaaay kewl creatures...

While we're all excited about our 8 tenticled friends... maybe some of you would interested in helping some of them out (http://zapatopi.net/treeoctopus.html)

That's funny. I especially like the 1930s tree octopus fashion craze.

Actually, Most octopi are slightly amphibious - they'll happily crawl onland from tidepool to tidepool, or (as FngSaiYk obliquely referred to earlier) if put in tanks they'll travel from one tank to the next.

AND, they've got blue-blood, not red.

Its' copper-based, not based on hemoglobin hence the color... And they're smart as hell too - their brain is huge compared to their relative size. Have you seen the documentaries on discovery where one octopus teaches others how to unscrew jars & stuff??? - Aliens I tell ya!
