Ok, I got this idea from another thread. What is your favorite Star Wars quote? And it's doesn't have to be only one.

Here's a good one:
A New Hope: Luke on Tatooine: talking to Uncle Owen: "But I was going into Toshie station for some power converters!"

Why do I like this quote? It's just the classic whiny Luke before he joined the rebelion.

Another one I like but I have no idea why is:
Return of the Jedi: Imperial soilder to Han Solo: Inside the deflector shield bunker on Endor: "You rebel scum!"

There are so many more. Lets hear 'em.

it had to be before '77 so probably a western. The good the bad and the ugly maybe, or maybe the quick and the dead, or the maginficent seven.

No idea. (I should have watched the commentary). Hidden Fortress? Silly boy. Lucas doesn't tell you where he steals material. It was a samurai movie, though. Just not that one.

Yojimbo (1961) Akira Kurosawa

Can't take credit though. Looked it up on the web.

It also looks like Lucas got a lot of inspiration from "The Hidden Fortress" (1958) Akira Kurosawa.

Anyway, that scene is almost line-for-line from Yojimbo, right down to cutting the guy's arm off.

Hidden Fortess is much more like TPM. But C3P0 and R2D2 come straight out of Hidden Fortess, as does the idea for Obi-Wan. General Makabe is the older, grisly Samurai. Ma-Ka-Be...Ken-O-Bi....

There is a Darth Vader character in HF, a samurai previosly wounded by Makabe that wants revenge for the beating. If you add him + John Wayne's character from The Searchers, you get Darth Vader in a nutshell. The scene in AOTC where Anakin finds his mom is straight out of John Ford's The Searchers as well (really, that whole plot line is right out of The Searchers). Some of them are shot-for-shot.
