honing stones

What is the difference between honing stones and aluminum oxide honing stones. For sword sharpening which is the best sharpening tool?

i reccomend "sun tiger" fine stone. its orange in color. for rough work i reccomend the 2-level stone from your local hardware store. keep them in water. don't bother with oil.

Aluminum oxide is good for establishing an edge. Diamond is better. Stone is my preference for honing.

sun tiger fine stone now these work the same way the honning do? and keep them in water all the time or right before u use it?
