I was wondering what taichi practitioners thoughts are on the concept of the mysterious hand in push hands. I have seen it mentioned in Kuo's "The Tai Chi Chronicles."

Hi,

do you have the complete quote, or the page where it appears?

Respects,

Please elaborate, I have never read the book. One teacher I know always say "One hand always lies and the other always tells the truth"

I think the reference is in the history section of "The Tai chi boxing Chronicles" on Yang, Lu Chan or Yang Pan hou. I'd have to look it up. I'll do that a bit later as it's time for practice.
In general, the mysterious hand I've read about refers to making contact in push hands and then mysteriously the opponent is sent flying. I quess it may refer to fa jiang or it may refer to the hand being in one space and then instantly in another space.
