Qi and Kami

I started reading The Root of Chinese Qigong by Dr Yang, and while reading about Heavan and Earth Qi, I started wondering how similar Heavan and Earth Qi is to Shinto's Kamis?

Not similar at all. Kami are actual spirits of the land, with the same motivations and foibles that any other sentient being possesses. Qi is lifeforce, no more sentient than breath or blood. Take the lifeforce out of a landscape and you've got Mars, take the lifeforce out of a human and you have a corpse.
