Oh what a disgrace
To see the human race

Actually, rat and mouse, they are smart.

They may solve a maze. They are good trackers, too.

So the rat race is a smart race. No repetitions or no getting lost.

Unless, you ask them to run in a wheel like treadmill. Then, they are not going anywhere.

Some people even think about harnessing the energy to power a light bulb or recharge the battery.

So what is a rat race? against time or geography/space.

:D

cool poem.

There was a wierd anedote I heard when I was a kid.

There was a fast runner. He also liked to boast. He did outrun everyone in the village.

One day a villager said to him so I heard you run very fast. The runner said yes.

"How fast?"

"Faster than the wind."

"Ok I bet you may not outrun the Sun."

"Oh ya. I bet I could. "

So he ran, tired and lost the bet.

The point of the story was that we have to know our limits.

Rat race may mean something bad.

However, working diligently like ants means something good. I think. Because ants gather food for the winter.

Oh, there was a second part of the story.

A Daoist priest said to the runner. Actually you do not have to run, the Sun will set in a few hours. Guess what the Sun will be behind you tommorrow when it rises up.

Pondering.

 :D :)

To cut to the chase;

The point of the story was that we have to learn and know about nature so that we may follow the way/path of the nature.

In a rat race

So much haste
What a waste

zoning out to tv
like an episode of lost in space
finding time to choke down cans of cheeze paste,
drownin out our fears in beer
case after case
looking around in shame
at our collective expanding waists

Running ourselves into the ground
Forgetting Anansi's stories
Leading ourselves with a carrot of haste
and a stick of waste
d time

Why run
When we can walk
Why scream into our cell phones
when we're standing next to a nice girl
Have we forgotten to talk

It's the song that matters
It's the people that matter
To busy
Becoming mad like hatters

We are our own deserved disgrace
We are leading ourselves down a dirty maze
Trying to forget we're running a rat's race

I like the talky talky happy talk,
Talk about things you like to do,
You got to have a dream,
If you don't have a dream,
How you gunna have a dream come true

Off topic of off topic.

The goal of the maze is that there is food at the destination.

Science people use the maze game to study learning and memory. Give the lab rat some chemical and see if it improves the game or shortening the time to goal. This is how they search the drug of tommorrow to help Alzheimer and the like.

Life can be a maze with a lot of twist and turns and many and many circles.

Our ability to solve maze puzzle is not as good as the rats!.

The rat running through the maze is running through life on someone elses terms. Who ever controls the maze, controls the rat. The rat believes that there is a reward at the end. The rat hopes that it will be the biggest piece of cheese ever. But the person controlling the maze controls the size of the cheese. So the rat runs through this maze and maybe ingnores or can't spend enough time with Mrs. Rat and the little rats. So he keeps on running but it's a really big maze. So he has to run through it at night and on weekends. He gets himself a little cell phone so he can communicate with other rats. He reads books on how to find the cheese quicker. Along the way he meets some Rats that are bigger and they block the way to the cheese. He manages to scrape up some cheese here and there. Just enough to buy more things that will maybe help him get to the mysterious big cheese. The rat wishes that he never started this race in the first place. The rat misses Mrs. Rat and the little rats. Every once in a while the Rat gets to see Mrs. Rat and the little rats. He loves those rats so much and wishes he could spend more time with them. The little rats are growing up so quick and he sees that they are already on their own little rat races.

A trully smart rat would jump over the side of the maze and escape the lab to live life on his own terms.

lost in a maze of what we must do

have to do

can't not do

climb the walls and escape

ponder this misthanthropic topic
about the blind state of our race
like a daily reenactment of dante's inferno (good book by the way)
creating a hell of our home
makes us seem not much more than infernal
most showing no concern to discern,
our confounding fate
some may think it wise to just wait for a change
for something lofty in turn
but with every loon abusing blind faith
learning how to create big booms
nukes and warplanes and finding new ways to shoot
and everyone going generally insane
it'll probably be too late.

The clock reminds me of the time.

There are times for everything.

There are times for the spring, summer, fall and winter.

There are times for running a race, resting, walking, and doing nothing.

There are times to use the cell phone

answering "necessary" calls.

There are times not to use the cell phone

during driving, in class, in a meeting etc.

There are times to turn to the right.

There are times to turn to the left.

There are times to keep going straight.

There are times to stay put and not going anywhere.

There are times to retreat, retrace or go back to where you started or visited.

There are times for me to shut up.

heh. I'll never give up this forum.

I wrote that on a Sunday where I came in to fix **** for the team, worked all the day Monday till 5:30 got called in and asked to leave work, nothing to do with performance - actually a sniviling **** of a project manager wanted me out so his friend that he just brought in could roam free and he could take credit for things getting done. People there couldn't handle the truth. Sh!t was brewing for over a year. The boss had way too much faith in his annointed managers. Fuc(ung second-guesser jealous yes men drink the kool-aid beyotches. I was the one getting the most **** done there for over a year, yet they wouldn't seek my opinon.

There is a silver lining to this cloud though -- my wife needs care over the next two months and I'm here for her, and I wouldn't be if I were in La-la land with the rest of my shop. Plus, I'm in a great position to grab a better opportunity.

Basically, Chief Fox hit it on the head. Keeping in mind that you gotta do what you gotta do.

So SPJ, the rat race is like when the rats are all swarming over each other to get to whatever, be it food or escape a flood. Not finding a way through a maze. It is an incomplete analogy however, as rats don't have fingers to run around pointing at each other when things go wrong, unlike humans.

Definitely a disgrace.
