If anyone has seen the VCDs of the 1999 VTAA Conference. There are two TWC demos on the link above that are not on the VCD set. There are some good Gary Lam clips as well.

Cheers Phil, some nice stuff. If ever I get any vid stuff I'll send it to you as you seem to be the current flag-bearer for wc vids...

Is that your gym with the hardwood floor and the metal stairs? Looks like a nice space to train. [/jealous]

No Mat. I rent space at a local Karate school. There is also a boxing coach and two BJJ guys that teach separate classes there, one just made Brown Belt. I have morning and evening classes. We're like family there and we all have keys so we can train there anytime when there are no classes going on. In fact we're all doing a seminar soon and all the profits will go for the new furnace.

Now I'm even more jealous!! Do you get to train with people from those other disciplines often, or just the occasional seminar? Either way, sounds good.

Yes we can train with any of them. In fact sometimes the BJJ Brown Belt teaches his class the same time as mine on the floor upstairs, it's matted. Any instructor can train with another for a $10 "drop in" fee per class.

Hey Mat, you can see the BJJ guys in the background of this clip. The guy on the right is just learning how to spar.

I know the purists won't like these clips but eveyone gets hit now and then so your body better be conditioned for it. In this drill we are training for mid level round kicks. One guy will play the WC fighter and one will be whatever. I'm planning of getting my guys into San Sau so we are pumping up the volume by conditioning our bodies. I know that I need some conditioning ;)

good to see your gym is heavy into conditioning as well , we do similar excercise's as well at my gym except that we put shin guards on to help unload on the rounds. Better to be ready to train the next day then then to be out for a few weeks. Where you guys compete San Sau at , does your gym promote heavy into tournament and ring competitions as well?

There is a Sifu in Michigan that holds San Sau events. I met him at a demo at
U of M. He's sending my rules for the matches. Also, there is a tournament in near Cleveland Ohio every year that holds San Sau fights. Since many people are saying that WC people can't fight I want to prove them wrong. We fight EVERY class now. :D

Hey Phil,
my sifu will be hosting the Pan Nam kung fu and san shou championship here in toronto sometime in the summer. I would love to see wing chun fighters who actually use their wing chun training to win. I will have one of my student fighting in the light heavy weight.

Sweet, let me know when. I hope to see you in T.O. I should be there tomorrow (Sat.) around 1:30PM and I'm heading back to Detroit Monday morning. Sifu Cheung's seminar is from 6:00pm-9:00pm. I'll call you when I get there.

I was trying to really tag Barry here with single and double jabs and jab crosses. His isolation drill was a simple pak sau, wu sau. This clip is dark but you can use windows media player to lighten it up.

Interesting! Thanks Phil! Not bad footage. Interesting that even in a Chi Sao situation, most of the guys in this clip ended up grappling.

The chi sao "range" is so close to the grappling range it would seem to be a natural progression into grabbing and grappling if the situation warrants.

It's not as if the grappling they show is separate from Wing Chun anyway. All of the takedowns are using the trip from the biu tze form. Alot of the grappling involves the grabbing the back of the neck like in the dummy form. It does look "messy" but it looks like you're not allowed to hit full force to the face, so obviously the only way you're going to win is by takedowns.
