This thread will be a purely dedicated space giving instruction on different types of meditations.

If each post submitted could follow this basic outline we should create quite a nice meditation handbook.

1) Type of meditation
2) History/info is applicable
3) Listed instructions (also note possible variations)
4) How this meditation has helped you/what benefits you feel it offers

If we could keep this thread disciplined and in order it should work well. DO NOT POST REPLIES TO OTHER POSTS.....KEEP IT ON POINT!

1) Type of meditation

-Let's start with Transcendental


2) History/info is applicable

-not dissimilar from many mantra based meditations, but is attributed to the maharishi mahesh yogi

3) Listed instructions (also note possible variations)

-sit, breath normally, recite your mantra continually

4) How this meditation has helped you/what benefits you feel it offers

-it aids in bringing focus by proxy of mantra use.

-moving along to zen

2) History/info is applicable

-began at shaolin temple with the first patriarch of Ch'an Buddhism, Bodhidharma has since spread out across the world and is most notable in it's form as zen from teh japanese disciplines.

-sit


4) How this meditation has helped you/what benefits you feel it offers

- Brings about a state of mind that helps a martial artist in regulation of adreniline flow and emotional control. Many benefits and is demanding because it forces one to have only oneself as the source and intention. Everything else flows over.

1) Type of meditation - Inner light

2) History/info is applicable

- Indian Meditation found within the following of sant mat. Uses the 6th chakra as a focus point.

3) Listed instructions (also note possible variations)

- A meditation on the 6th Chakra. Focus is drawn to the space between the eyeballs and the eyelids. Bring your attention to any colours, shapes or visulisations that appear. Focus should be always on the space, if you drift then slowly pull it back to correctness.

4) How this meditation has helped you/what benefits you feel it offers

Light and sound are considered the manifestations of god/universe.
Short term benifits = clarity of thought, peace, tranquility
Long term benefits = separation of the soul back to its original source.
