ot: anyone know anything about macs/ichat?

yeah about as off topic as you can get, but google wasn't my friend today.

adoras best friend moved to FL and we're keeping in touch via webcams.

only problem is they have an imac and i have no idea what i need to link up with their ichat software. i currently run trillian so i have accounts with every im and ill dowload whatever i need to. just wondering if anyone has any idea what that might be.

Theoretically, it should work with any AIM or Yahoo messengers. But I haven't found anyone to try it out with. :p

i thought of that, but i dont think they are very computer oriented so im trying to figure something out on my end if i can.

then again i guess i've walked peopole through worse :)

Check your settings under "preferences" in ichat. :)

iChat will work with AOL, Google Talk and Jabber.
Additionally there are native yahoo, msn, clients for the Mac platform.

So if you already trillian set up with AOL you should be able to chat with them just fine.
They in turn can get Adium and have the same kind of setup on OS X.

For *webcam* specific stuff, iChat should let you do the AOL webcam thing.
The native yahoo client for the mac should let them do yahoo video with you.

i guess well just try it .... i have an aim account and ill create a jabber account. i've already warned her of the possibility of having to download yahoo if it doesnt work.

i agree with davids assessment of mac users.
