get serious guys I ain't trolling. what made you think I am?

I asked two questions one of them was about top CLF masters/teachers and the second question is to some extent conected with the first one.

I know of CLF masters like ( in no special order) : Lee SiuHung, TatMau Wong, DocFai Wong , Chen YongFa,Frank Promicias, Gaspar Garcia and some others. I just wanted to know who other do you know who is worth mentioning ( top shelf masters as far as fighting and teaching skills is concerned)?

The other question was inspired by Lamma Pai Sifu when he said that many people think that chuantong wushu outside China is first class but in many cases the truth is there are some great masters ( old-school fighters) in China who are not that exposed.

I remember also Coach Ross writing here that in his master's opinion some styles are not first class outside China ?

So whaddaya say guys?

Rob

P.S some time ago I asked similar quesyion and immedetly I was rated as a troll by some the guys who already replied to my post.

jeez, I felt a bit like at police station - so many questions and always in quest for a hidden agenda.

My name's Rob I have been practising MA for a few years , I have also competed a bit in kuo shou rules fights and recently in full contact jujitsu ( similar to MMA).

I had a training period in ChoyLeeFut and I am still interested in the style. Due to my location and travels I had to stop CLF. But am still interested in CLF and as I wrote earlien in the thread I got interested by what Lamma Pai Sifu wrote that there are lingeages of known styles that are more rich ( technique-wise and in general as a fighting systems) in mainland China. So asked about that .

I would like to know the names of CLF master who are said to be good ( those from mainland china and other parts of the world).

hey. try do a goodle search, there are plenty of famous CLF fighters and masters out there.

I saw some video clips on Chan Yong Fa's websites, and he looks really cool. training looks pretty realistic and focussed too.

If you are looking for a master, there are plenty of very good masters around.
I'm biast, but check out www.leekoonhungkungfu.com . There are actually a a good few famous CLF teachers who post on this forums.

Sihing Nick is 100% correct. Even though TT gave me the honor but to be put on the list of Sifu and Masters is not deserving. There are many Elders and Sihings before me that we should honor first. I am happy just to be a student and thank Sihing nick for the correction.

TT thanks for the kind words but it is not deserving.

Eddie, I know your affiliation, but I thought you actually learned some CLF from Chan Yong-Fa?
Didn't you go to China with the group a few years back? Maybe I have you confused with someone else from SA who is affiliated with Lee Koon Hung or maybe I am imagining everything. :p

Anyways, the masters in West are well known and surely many of them have already been mentioned here. But how about in China? I heard there some great masters there too, but of course I haven't met them or know anything about them, so I will let others speak.

Zaveesha, remember our e-mail conversation some time back? When it comes to CLF, you have to choose your words. :D

hey mika, it wasnt me, although I did receive brosures and stuff about the trip. there is only us from SA affiliated to our association, so I wouldnt know.

Master Chan young fa really looks like a fighter too. He really impress me. His group also seems very cool, less hung up about themselves.

There are some very cool CLF masters out there. The Lacey family, from what I have heard or seen of them, also really impress me. They come across to be very " hardcore" :) (I mean it in a good way), and they seem to be taking the aft very seriously.

I have hung out at Vince Lacey's place and spoke to them (shane and Vince) and they are very cool people. Vince lacey has a huge school very extravagant. But are very warm and personable people.

But my favorite is Dave Lacey. I used to have lunch with him in Hayward and all we would do is talk CLF. He is the type to put his hands on you while talking. He is hella funny, and all about Choy Lee Fut. He also has one helluva nice Motorcycle, and riviera too.

Sifu Dave Lacey only hits you if he likes you!:D

hskwarrior
12-26-2005, 03:12 PM
he must have liked the hell out of me.

The reputation of the Lacey brothers preceeded them. Except that people embellished too much and i thought a fight would be on my hands because i won't let ANYYONE put their hands on me. But he was kinda rough with his demonstrations, and even in a video i have of them in Maylasia or singapore, you can see Dave Lacey clocking his studtents.

I hope the man is doing well, he's been busy and we haven't had lunch in a minute. I hope he is healthy. maybe DF can answer that for us.

Aren't there others from Chan Tai-San's CLF as well? Such as Gus Kaparos, David Ross, Steven Innocenzi (excuse the spelling) I am not sure whether specific Sifus are specialists in Lama or CLF, so I will leave that to the CTS clan.

Otherwise, I will be spending all my time making apologies!-and what with New Year's coming up, I got some serious drinkin' to do!:D

WTF?

I can't believe there is no mention of Sifu Sam Ng!!!!

I'm surprised no one mentioned my Sifu, Mak Hin Fai yet. He is a student of Lee Koon Hung and his fellow students include Tat Mau Wong and Li Siu Hung. He is the kind of no-bullcrap teacher. . . . he doesn't talk via theories and concepts, when you ask something he explains it very practically, and if that's not enough he'll usually do something to you do explain it.

Like pantherfisting my arm, roundhousing me on the thighs, throwing me, knocking my limbs. . . . . .

Yay I feel special.

Sisook Tat Wong is also a very nice guy, I've met him once and his family was very kind people. From what I hear they might be moving up hear for parts of the year. . . . . . . yay.

Your Sifu seems like a very cool dude also. Some other CLF guys and I have pretty much conviced this dude on another forum to join your school.

OK, then I have been misinformed. Probably a misunderstanding. I can check with the guy who told me this.

Master Chan young fa really looks like a fighter too. He really impress me. He impresses me too. He really does know his stuff.

This must stem from the same confusion: I heard that Master Chan Yong Fa went to one of the Florida schools to hold a seminar a few years ago (I am not confusing FL with CA, that seminar in CA did happen). I always thought that was great as it made people come closer. But now I am not sure it ever happened...:D

I don't think Chan Sifu has ever come to Florida. I know he speaks to my sifu, Li Siu Hung on the phone from time to time but I don't think he has ever stopped in for a visit. Would be nice though :D

OK, I have fallen victim to communist propaganda then. :D

OK. Maybe a misunderstanding. I was told, however, of these matters (CYF in FL and Eddie training w/CYF) as facts, but that's OK. It's the old broken phone thing all over again...;)
