Winter Rooster Step???

I have seen the term, "winter rooster step", used by practitioners of the Meihua line. Could someone please describe it for me?

there's a possibility they are referring to "han ji xi" one of the 8 basic stances? if i'm not mistaken it's the empty stance. i always thought it was cold chicken stance, which never made sense to me. winter rooster sounds better :p

The cold rooster is describing a rooster which is so cold that he lifts up one leg.

It is like the empty stance -xu shi.

In old Mantis of Li Kunshan in Taiwan and some plum flower in Shandong use this term combined with the term monkey step.
These two in combination refer to the essential stepping method of Mantis. Although it is common in other styles of mantis to certain degree it may have a different name in other branches.
It applies to moving forward, backward, left or right.

Strike four gates of TJPM is one good example.
In the 1st Zhai Yao there are several good examples of this type of stepping.
