Search the forums, this has been posted before.

He's just a hypnotist (and a darn good one), he states that on his website (which is pretty cool).

No. Not him, I said ignore him. I'm talking about the asian teacher guy.

Yup I think Derren Brown is wasted on TV. What he knows about the human Psyche is amazing. He should be snapped up by some government.
There's a few clips of him on his site.

and its defo not Kevin Chan.

As Justin said, this video was come up on this forum before. And in that thread was the following reply.

my sifu was on that clip (the one who did the inch punch)

According to Sifu Tam it was staged and he mentioned something about making a sound as a signal for the guy to act like he was hit.

Hopefully that solves the mystery.

Cheers,

I don't remember that statement. I've seen some real, live hypnotists who were real convincing. Alot of people claim that they're 'staged'...if they are it's a pretty elaborate scheme...and it's always 'concievable' that something on video is staged, it's just too easy.

I was impressed. (by the hypnosis, not the inch punch or magic punch or anything):)

I was impressed. (by the hypnosis, not the inch punch or magic punch or anything):)The hypnosis was certainly interesting. It does show how things can be staged in such a way as to give the viewer a totally different impression. A little creative editing helps too.

Yes it was Sifu Tam Yiu Ming, former instructor with IWTA with GM Leung Ting:

Suddenly has leapt to Grandmaster status :D ,
agrees with Derren Brown's statement that he is the most sophisticated wing chun master in Hong Kong :D ,
talks about the one inch punch then proceeds to put out the candle with an ordinary punch, should it have not been a one inch punch :D ,
then finally, the focus pad punch takes a nice pull back of about 8-10 inches (download buffering stopped the clip exactly at the point of pull back which was somewhat humorous!) :D

Disappointed...
