Ok, so now that I have your attention...

I've definitely decided to stop thinking Lei Tai and want to take the sparring in my school the san shou route.

And, feeling pretty good about my organization of this recent tourney...and there not being any San Shou in this area...I'd like to move towards promoting a San Shou event here one day down the road.

But, who's who?

It looks like Coach Ross's events are sanctioned by

http://www.uskba.com/

there's this group

http://www.sanshou.com/

this group

http://www.usawkf.org/home.htm

and I guess these guys are on the forefront of the Olympic movement????

http://www.iwuf.org/

so, lkfmdc, SanshouGuru...where does a guy go to get started in this direction?

you can't go wrong with USKBA right now. They are on the right path and things are opening up. IMHO they are promoting some of the best amateur combat sport events in the east right now.

sanshou.com is Bret Hamby's group. As you can imagine Cung's promotions are best scene on the west coast.

the usawkf/iwuf? - if you wan't national recognition (ex. fighting at the worlds) then you'll need to be a part of these events.

Thanks, ST00. I want to make as educated a decision as possible.

Anyone heard of any schools training San Shou down this way (NC, East TN, SC, GA)?

ran some searches last night but didn't really find anything. I know Chris Heintzman, not well mind you, but we talked in November about the lack of venues in NC and the mid south for San Shou. He's down east but closer than the rest of you guys and he's training his hop gar students for fighting.

I have a bias towards USKBA obviously but you can't go wrong with Cung Le's event in San Jose either...

USA WKF? waste of time in my opinion, so you want to go to the worlds? Why? so you can get cheated blind by china? ANd it seems like the ONLY time USA WKF does an event it is just before the worlds, so you want to be part of an org that does one event every two years?

PC, got it and responded. Thanks.

Coach Ross: I don't particularly want to go anywhere. I do want to develop the sport fighting aspect of my school and take them to compete. I guess we'll (lol, me and my one student who wants to fight) have to travel north.

Do you have junior divisions?

maybe I missed it but where are the san da/san shou rules posted on the USKBA website?
