I have the choice of either taking Northern Shaolin or Hsing I at a school I found that I like. Could somebody give me an overview of hsing I, or a good site where I could get some info? How long does it take to become a fairly effective fighter with a good teacher compared to Northern Shaolin? Thanks, lowsweep

In this forum you will probably get more votes for Hsing-i. Here is a link. (http://hsing-i.com/) Either would be good and all depends on the instructor or you!

Check www.emptyflower.com (http://www.emptyflower.com)

It's a Hsing-I site with lots of info.

Hey lowsweep! I remember from an earlier post of yours that you live near where I grew up. What's the name of the school that you found, and who is the teacher?

The school is the Shaolin Center with Sifu Frank Versagi. He teaches Northern Shaolin, Qi Gong, Tai Chi Chuan, and I think he teaches Hsing I, too. He's 2nd generation Sun Lu-Tang Xing Yi (Hsing I) 3rd degree black sash, 3rd dan Shorin-Ryu karate. What does the 2nd generation Sun Lu-Tang Hsing I mean? Is that a variation of traditional Hsing I? Thanks for the websites and the help, lowsweep

Sun Lu Tang's Hsing-I is traditional. Ask him who his Hsing-I teacher was.

Hi, Second generation in this case would simply mean that your sifu's, sifu, studied with Sun Lu-Tang.
