Both of these are beginner sets, modern, and practical. However, I was wondering which one would be more effective in concentrating in and deeper in content. Personally, I like the feel of Zhong Yi Quan, but I can't put my finger on it. I think it's the power aspect because it's derived from Bajiquan.

Even though Zhong Yi Quan is shorter, I think that the simple techniques make it more effective and therefore more practical. In a way, it can be an alternative to Lian Bu Quan because they have the same feel, and to practice both would be repetitive.

Just my two cents...

Lian Bu is deeper than the way most people do it.

It is a dragon style set, if it is done that way, it is very internal.

"Zhong Yi Quan" (Pinyin) is a also known as "Chung I Chuan" (Wade-Giles).

It's a handset created in the 80's by a Bajiquan (Pa Chi Chuan) Master (forget his name now...). It was commisioned by the International Chinese Kuoshu Federation (ICKF).

Hope that helps.

just read on the "Empty Flower Forum" that the Lin Bu Quan was originally a "Southern Style" form that was incoporated into the Kuoshu because of its strong foundational skills.
