But, I knew that already. :p
The chinese lady, Liming, that I posted about a couple of weeks ago started her classes this week at my school.
sadly, we haven't had anyone show up yet but we're working on that.
Tuesday I was still working on tax stuff so couldn't play but tonight I joined her on the floor.
I followed her through the Yang 24 and mostly she just kinda looked at me funny :D
serriously though, I didn't do too bad for not having played the form I know in a couple of years and some of the common movements (single whip, brush knee) had a bit different turn of the hand or foot.
I got to ask her about her training and such. She doesn't speak hardly any chinese and her husband actually wasn't as much help translating as I thought he might be but I got a neat story about her early training as a girl under her teacher.
I also asked her about other forms besides the 24 and she said that she teaches the 24 first and then the 42. Also, Jian and fan (single and double).
I think her Tai Chi is good. She moves well and the 'energy'...I'll call it 'vibe'...off of her is great.
The minimal english wasn't a problem for me...not that I understood the chinese...but she was able to convey what she wanted me to do well enough...and was very stern with her corrections; sharply correcting my mistakes. :p but, I like a stern teacher.
Also, she did some basic kicking, tan tui if I'm right and her kicks are tight and crisp.
She also grabbed me once and had a heck of a grip for a 4'11' lady of not much more than 110 lbs.
bottom line, I think she's 'the real deal' and I'm more committed to making sure she gets noticed here in town.
