Just got back from seeing this movie and it totally sucked.

Save yourself the pain and don't bother.

It was boring and repetitive. The special effects were not very special, but rather hokey. The pacing and directing were flat and uninteresting. The acting was unimpressive given the cast. Sissy Spacek and Donald Sutherland did little more than phone it in, so to speak. There is a tiny twist that isn't very surprising and actually seems more tacked on in order to connect the main story (which takes place in the 1800's) to the modern story that is little more than bookends intended to put a very old story in kind of a contemporary context - a hamfisted effort that is as trite as it is transparent.

The best thing about it was that it was only about an hour and 15 minutes long.

Or even 45 minutes.

Maybe then I could have complained about the brevity and demanded a refund.:)
