Today is the birthday of the Marquis de Sade!!

Donatien Alphonse François, le Marquis de Sade (born June 2, 1740 in Paris; died December 2, 1814 in Charenton-Saint-Maurice) was a French aristocrat and writer of philosophy-laden and often violent pornography, as well as some strictly philosophical works. His is a philosophy of extreme freedom, unrestrained by ethics, religion or law, with the pursuit of personal pleasure being the highest principle. Much of his writing was done during the 29 years he was incarcerated. His reputation for sexual cruelty led to the term "sadism" being named after him.

you know whats funny is i had the whole post typed out about happiness and how that has changed for me over the years and then i just posted that instead.

when i was a little younger i was 100% certain that the only purpose in life was to indulge. bath in whatever pleasures you like. we are just animals here for a short while and that happieness flowed into you from the senses.

i've begun to realize that always chasing gratification leaves you always chasing gratification. which can get quite frustrating. i guess i've grown up a little, but it really makes me wonder what ill think of my current self 5 or 10 years from now.
