There is only one song: Folsom Prison Blues.
All others are simply melodic shadows of Folsom Prison Blues.

I believe sleepign village is the last song on their first album. I would rank that as the best song of all time. It has such an other wordly feeling, I have heard it literally thousands of times, and I think it still gets better, every time.
And tws, check out the flower travellin band, look for the album called satori, peace.

Yes indeed it is my favorite black sabbath song. When i was a kid i used to go to sleep at night listening to that song. So it has a sentimental value for me, that song. I will check out that album you mentioned.

I have been trying to limit this. Though my list is much more lively than the above. I tried to pick ten I would not tire from hearing and it is difficult. I almost need sub groups. I will have to cut it down more! I know you'll be holding your breath for my list;)

Hey you need to respect the classic music as that is what most of these bands TODAY have modeled their creativity on. There will never be another era like the 70's music era. the creativity in lyrics and music style from ALL genres of music during that time have influenced the artists of today.
Peace,TWS
one of the albums i forgot to mention in my favorites is "Talking Heads: Remain in light".

Good choices. Although I personally prefer 'so young' or 'Heroin' to 'stay together'. Can't argue with the Nick Drake choice though. Was between that, 'at the chime of a city clock' and what I eventually chose.

I struggle to choose my favourite Suede song really, it's one of those songs that reminds me of a certain time in my life. And really struggled with favourite Nick Drake, so many amazing songs to choose!

Wow ... yeah everything that Sarah McLachlan wrote seemed like a good song at the time -- what a talented artist ... of course, after not listening to her stuff for a few years, now I can't remember any of her songs.
IMHO very few songs stand the test of time. Ask a teenager these days what old songs are famous, and they probably can't tell you anything older than about 10 years ago or so.
