He should have taken him down first, then using a under hook thingy....:D

I wonder if the victims had time to think about the single leg takedown??

Perfect example of the difference between the street and the ring, different worlds. ( that right landed perfect)

Thx for the clip Jon.:)

My initial post was not meant to advocate or imply that striking was superior to grappling (although I was makin a lil fun:)).

I agree Jon, I'm sure their's ample evidence on video of both strikers and grapplers and combo experts exibiting both in "reality" fights.

To me, reality fighting means, no forth coming knowledge of the event, total surprise without prior knowledge of the opponent and his skills/weakness/strengths; many variables including multiples on one and weapons vs. one. That's the difference from competition fighting (not saying that competition fighters can't fight on the street either bro), as any one can assimulate in a life and death situation. The problem I see is that lots of people look at a MMA fight and see it as one and the same as a street encounter, it isn't..

P.S. Reality fighting, IMO cannot be simulated in practice. Partners do not want to kill you in practice, nor do I want to kill my partners (then who would I have to go for a beer with after? no one..)
All you can do it train hard, understand what you are training and try to make it as realistic as possible, then after all that stay out of trouble, cause you may take the guy down but you may also end up on the other side of the bars too...

I totally agree that real fighting cannot be simulated in practice. As you mentioned, all you can do is train hard...but I'll add training w/ full contact and at full speed is about as close as you can come to real fighting.

The problem is most traditional schools don't train at full speed and w/ full contact very often...sure...many do it occasionally during senior class...or during sparring class...but it is not a regular part of every class. That makes a big difference.
