Jaco Pastorius was consider by many to be one of if not the greatest bass player of all time. He was beaten to death by a bouncer (a martial artist) 19 years ago. It is possible if he knew something (even BJJ), he would be clean and alive.

He was a herion addict. Only methadone could save him.

Next question...

He used cocaine mainly, but he had mental and alcohol problems as well. I was saying that when he got beat up, there was a good chance he could have defended himself. Also, most martial artist I know don't use drugs. It could have helped him fight temptations.

Actually, it was a statement and not a question.

R.I.P.

I listen to a little Jaco. Definitely a superb bass player but not my particular flavor.

I got to agree w/ CPA. It's a bit hard for me to recognize someone who lets drugs or alcohol take control.

It's a shame so many greats fell that way.

Yeah, he had severe depression. That mixed with alcohol is a very bad combo.

I just think that if he had grown up martial arts, if would have been different. Getting beat up, being left for hours in the street and having your brain swell is a bad way to go.
