So this weekend I made my 5 year old son a Jedi robe from a pattern I found on the web. It turned out pretty good. Now I'm thinking I could probably make my own kung fu uniform. Anyone out there got a pattern?

IronFist made this pattern for me a while back.

I could probably make that with my eyes closed. Actually it looks like he drew with his eyes closed. :D

Create your own by using an old uniform by popping all the seams and laying the individual pieces out. You can get paper at a fabric store to make your own pattern or just log the measurements.

My friend and I did this after finding nothing on the web except for a few japanese kimono type patterns.

How did they turn out? I was thinking about making a jacket out of fleece.

We had a real seamstress sew them so they turned out great. Much more durable than an off the shelf top. We used heavier fabric for both the body of the uniform and the mandarin "zipper".
They look very similar to this: http://www.martialartsmart.net/1113rt.html

I pretty much followed these instructions.

Here's another link. This one is a bit more involved.

It was pretty easy. Getting my 5 year old son to hold still while I measured him was the tough part. :D
