Greetings,

Could anyone please help me find information on General Qi Ji-guangs Miao Dao? I would be very grateful for links and any information on the weapon itself and the characteristics of the techniques, forms, etc.

Regards,
Wai.

There's also a few pages on www.sevenstarstrading.com (http://www.sevenstarstrading.com), but the site is down right now.

There's also a brief description of miao dao in Rurouni Kenshin, the japanese manga. It's used by the Main antagonist, Enishi.

I think illusionfist knows more, if he still reaps this.

Excellent artical Daniel. (the art of China one) I wish there were more pictures. The pictures of our pole training really bring back memories of exhaustion. During pole training is when I learned about General Qi Ji Guang. Miao Dao is also one of the best weapons to train with for the body! Very powerful too. Thanks for the link.

PS, how did you find that one? If you go to the website main page the links are sparse. If that is vol. 51 the should be at least 50 more.

I first found out about miao dao from the Manga I mentioned.

I asked about it on Jarek's and someone told me it was called miao dao (In the manga it was just called watto, the characters meaning "Japanese sword".

I then entered miao dao, japanese chinese and pirates, and out it popped.

Merciless is Mercy.

Dear Wai:

I learned the miao dao and some basic training years ago. The two man fight (which my KF brother learned was pretty impressive).

In our school the miao dao came from Adam Hsu who in turn learned it initially from his teacher Han Ching Ting.

Check out Adam Hsu's website and maybe you can e-mail the webmaster for more information.

www.swordforum.com (http://www.swordforum.com) has a great thread on Miao Dao right now.

And Brendan Lai's in SF has them in stock.
