Hey all
Finally got round to visiting Alan Orrs school.....
Have been curious to see Alans WC for a while for two main reasons :
1) I have read and enjoyed Alan and his teachers (Robert Chu) articles on WC
2) Alan seems one of the few WC teachers around trying to apply WC in NHB/MMA rather than falling back on the 'my art is too deadly' excuse
Happy to say I was not dissapointed
The philosophy is similiar to WSL i.e. it is combat orientated and seeks realism in the training but there are to my eye some key technical differences in the application/forms. However Alan had cogent rational explanations for why they did their techniques the way they did and most importantly was able to demonstrate them convincingly in action so to speak
The training down there is hard but friendly and they seem like a good bunch of guys to train with...I look forward to doing some more training with them
If anyone is stuck for something to do on a tuesday night check them out!
