If it is wax wood, its been coated with a sort of a varnish. Some one gave me a good tip once. Sand it with a heavy grit sand paper until the coating is off (you will be able to tell). Then, finish it with a very fine grit. It will no be slick but will slide easily.

If its a hard wood (insert jokes here), then chalk might work but it will probably be too slick. If all else fails, try KY jelly (not the warming kind) :D

ok, first take a plane, or a piece of curved broken coke bottle, and shave down all the bumps, so it is smooth. Then sand it again.
Then...here comes the good part.
Do one thousand heart thrusts (spear thrusts througgh both hands)
your hands will develop a blister-keep going
your blister will pop-keep going
your hands will bleed-keep going
this is the ONLY way to develop a proper spear/staff thrust technique

I am not clear on the method you are suggesting. After you have this piece of broken glass, what do you do? Hang it on a wall and finger thrust it?

you use it to shave off the little bumps and mounds on the shaft of the spear/staff. Of course you can use a wood plane, use a utility knife. All will work.

sorry man, you'll have to forgive me. I bought some Tiger Bone wine-which tastes really nasty.
so I thought I'd cut it...with Jagermeister.
so after I poured the Jager into the Tigerbone bottle...there was all this Jager left over....so no use seeing it go all to waste.....
BTW-Tiger Bone wine is used before training-usually when you are doing alot of hard contacy-falls, throws, body striking, sparring-etc. I highly reccdommend it.
