二林子技击术

A footage of Yantai (Shandong) style called Erlinzi's fighting art after a nickname of second generation master.

It is a style with no forms, with a very practical approach to teaching people how to fight. Video (120MB) shows lots of partner drills, sparring, conditioning etc..

Worth watching.

Interesting clips.

What was the point of the exercise where they are both trying to hit each other in the chest. It looks like the point would be to not get hit, like when the short dude rolled to the side that one time. But most of the time they were just hitting each other.

Not sure about that. I found a description of those exercises on a chinese web page, and it states that you're supposed not to let the other guy hit you. Which seems logical. On the other hand they obviously allow themselves to hit the chest. Even the teacher. It looks like they have few variations of this exercise. If you look at the part when the teacher does some paida gong, you can see students do this drill again in the back, but avoiding getting hit. Maybe in the passive part they learn that simultanous hits happen, and get used o contact, and to force it through or something. Just guessing. It is said that this zhanya (stick and press) drill is a very difficult practise and a lot that happens there while practising is not visible from the outside.
