Li Tianji was one of the architects of the modern 24 step taiji form (pr was it perhaps his own construct? ). Go to Longfei (http://www.longfei-taiji.co.uk/about/longfei.htm) to read some more, they have som interviews with his nephew Li Deyin too.

24 not too bad...but he also architected the 88 Posture routine that is a 90% rip off of Yang Chengfu's routine.

Is there anything wrong with the 88 form, other than the obvious riping off of the Yang Cheng Fu routine? What are some differences that make the original routine better?

Also, what do you think of the 66 combined form?

Well, 88 starts out like 85 (the numbering most often seen in places like Shanghai for Yang Chengfu's routine).

The unique characteristics are the stepping - no rock step, the wave hands - the hand and leg on the same side raise as opposed to opposite sides as in 24, the grasp sparrow's tail, and a few others...

The 88 routine is roughly 90% the same as 85. Li put it togehter and got a name for it...but in an ethical sense, what he did has a completely different name...

Since he was associated with a University, this name is taken VERY seriously and it is called PLAGARISM. In most Univerisites throughout the world, this is one transgression that can get even a professor with tenure fired.

That and a personal observation that such a routine was not needed and only serves to confuse people even more than the myriad of other Yang style methods.

24 and 48 are great routines. 88, though, is flawed from its inception due to this plagarism problem.
