What’s Chinese Wu Shu? Opinions vary.
Is it still necessary to reserve wushu at the end of “cold steel times”? The export said, wushu is not only a kind of techniques, but also, the more important, is one of the parts of Chinese traditional culture. It needs to be reserved carefully.
When the human being enters into the civilization times, does the wushu need to reform? The export said, it’s better to protect the wushu as its nature before we find the reasonable method which can be accepted by every side.
During the spread of wushu in the whole world, everything seems great, and the future is brighter, there’re some people begin to doubt: what’s the Chinese wushu’s family name should be “wu/ fight” or “wu/ dance”? (Chinese fight and dace has the same pin yin and pronunciation but with different character, different meaning) since the development and reformation, this question always puzzles the wushu field. If the question can’t be solved in the way of theory as soon as possible, it might weaken the Chinese wushu’s station in the world‘s martial arts field, or lose the very bright future. As times passes, this wonderful flower will fade and withered.
Wushu’s family should be “wu/fight” this was accepted by most of the people in the wushu field. But the in reality, wushu‘s family name is “wu/dance”, which is a admitted fact. Fight and dace both exist, both developing, which does make people worry.
Before we find a complete good method of reform, why not choose the middle way method to make up the Chinese wushu? Let’s design a project as following:
The modern wushu is, sometimes completely “wu/fight” – boxing; or sometimes completely “wu/dancing”- taolu/form, the focus of argument is: boxing with glove, which can’t full use of the benefit of Chinese wushu’s function and unique skill. In that way, it does weaken the power of wushu; Tao lu tend to the direction of “gym, acrobatics and dance” which really lose the nature of wushu.
Then let’s begin to change firstly the Tao Lu, before our match stress the single taolu (broad sword, spear, stick, sword and fist) performance. Now we stress the form of “attack-one-another”, and the single form take the second place. That is to say, the match will emphasize the function and station of attack-one-another forms, before we didn’t pay enough attention on it, or we can say we even didn’t notice it.
What’s the benefit?
1. The attack-one-another forms stress the function of practical fight, useful and defeat the opponent. Then all the redundant action will lose market in the attack-one-another forms.
2. You don’t need to wear glove, even no layout. You can involve all your wushu technique, and do not need to worry how to exert by any of your technique.
3. Western sanda was ranked as no-protection sport; it was a forbidden item in the Olympic Game just like the boxing sport, that’s fair and reasonable. But the attack-one-another forms are the nature wushu, and no risk. From the practice of this forms, the learner does build health and get self-protection, so wushu should be one of sport items in the Olympic Game, even if the wushu can’t be one item in the Olympic Game, the Taichi should be, because Tai chi quan was accepted by world P.E lover, it’s kind of best items for build health.
4. In the reality, there are many people who learn wushu in their whole life, but few of them know how to use every action of wushu. That’s really ironical. Through the attack-one-another form, this question can be solved easily. It’s very meaningful to enhance the wushu’s quality.
5. If you want to master the attack-one-another form, you must have the have the single form basic ability, at this point, there will no one complain the wushu’s dancing, acrobatic and opera intention.
6. First practice the attack-one-another form by empty hands, then with weapons. It will develop the use of 18 kinds of weapons. It also can protect the 18 kinds of weapons arts.
7. The attack-one-another form shows the original function of wushu: attack and defense!
