I want to take a crew down to his *Show*, and just stand there and laugh at him when he waves his arms around at us on stage!

He's obviously projecting his Chi. I can project chi, but not quite as far as he can.

I can change the channel on my TV without a remote, though.

Benny Hin is HUGE - he's worldwide, got mega-$$$ - was supposedly in some hot water w/the IRS (I could be wrong, but no shock if he was); he does all the faith-healing stuff at his live shows; he also has a TV show, where he sits and says stuff like "I feel there's someone out there with back pain - yes, you, that's right - I pray that the Lord take away that pain - yes, I can feel it happening now, the pain is gone."

amazing what people will go for...

Watch the Kung fu episode entitled "The Brujo". Although these guys are not as evil (seeming anyways) as the charactor that is depicted on that show I think that the principle is the same. I think that there is a chi transmission there but you have to belive in it to be affected by it.

There's a Ki-Akido guy who throws his students around with his chi. When he went up against a BJJ purple belt who didn't belive in him, he got his ass handed to him. It wasn't because the guy was BJJ, any style could have done it. It's just that he didn't belive in him.

The guy spazzing out on the floor was funny.

Donkwoon - psychologically speaking, these people have weak minds and need something to believe in. They LET it affect them, so in that respect it IS real.

Spazz was hilarious!

I guess those of us with the warm fuzzy atheist glow are just gonna miss out on all the fun then...

Seriously, what would you rather see? Benny Hin pretending to heal people and getting paid millions?

Or Benny Hill with his bevy of young babes, and some of them decked out in Santa outfits on Christmas?

If you answered (a) I'd say you're either a) lying or b) an old lady.

Why don't you attend one of Hinn's meetings as a skeptic and see if he can put you down with his chi. You would walk out as either a believer or a skeptic whose opinion was reinforced from personal experience.

It doesn't look like he'll be in Chicago any time soon. Here is a link to his events schedule.

Yeah, my Grandma doesn't use a remote, either. She gets up and changes the channel.

Seriously, there's some guy with a million dollar challenge. Why don't you win a million dollars from him? http://www.randi.org/research/index.html

Right, the amazing randi fock. bull**** theatrics to confuse and mislead the weakminded who have nothing to live for but what others tell them.

This is rampant, how do we help them understand that they need their own sense of self?

I apologize, but it's late for me, and I am tired of this topic of human vulnerability.

Not tired of this thread, but seriously tired of this stupidity.

There is no need to send more troops to Iraq. Just send this guy and he can take care all the problems for US. If this kind of stuff do work then we should all find a quite place, get a rope, and hang ourselves - we may have wasted our life time training the wrong stuff.

Exactly...

Obviously, he has more power than any of us could ever imagine.

I find it strange that on his ministry website he has a section on financial advice and then is also taking donations so he can buy his own private jet. From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benny_Hinn:
In December 2006 Benny Hinn sent letters to followers seeking donations for a Gulfstream G400 executive jet.[12] These letters followed Hinn's similar request that his program broadcasted throughout 2006. Hinn says a personal jet will allow him to " preach the Gospel around the globe." Hinn asked 6000 previous donors to each contribute $1000 to cover the $6 million down payment; the total cost of the plane is over $30 million.

If you fork over 1k, he will even send you a model of the plane, the Dove One -- is that swell or what? ;) https://www.bennyhinn.org/donate/donatenow.cfm?referrer=na_dove1&CFID=28953282&CFTOKEN=76401778

Here's the rub...People don't want to take responsibility for their lives. It's too hard. Same reason people don't want to practice real kungfu, too hard.

in fact, anything that requires hardiness and constitution is usually passed over in favour of a way to make ones ass fatter and posture worse and belly fuller and mind emptier.

That's human nature. Be thankful if you can recognize it. :)

It is unfair to look at religious extremists and to judge a faith based on this. There are many wonderful Moslems who live their faith, and terrorist bombers do not represent these folks.

Christians who break out the rattlesnakes in their meetings or fell a crowd with their "chi" are not respresentatives of the many dedicated Christians who live their faith day after day without fanfare.

good point - even the Taoists and Buddhists had / have some outrageous individuals at the fringes; guys like Hinn take advantage of the fact that many people don't want to realize that the "secret" of spirituality is seeing life such as it - finding the sacred in the profane (or the profoundly ordinary, as it were); "hauling water, chopping wood" and all that...
