We used to ('60s/70's), but eliminated it due to too many head injuries. It was a compromise. Most Kyokushin practitioners compensate by putting on the gloves and hitting the bag, along with boxing. We do well against the Muay Thai folks and in K1, so I don't think it's hurt us much.

Daido Juku compensates with a helmet/visor, and allows all techniques to be used against the head.

mann, those no-gloves, closed fist punches thrown by those guys are hard!! One shot in the right spot would drop their opponents almost instantly!

Definitely good stuff tho.

The ? is why Kyokushin does not punch to the face. This is only for our tournaments, we train to fight period but kyokushin rules are no hand face strikes, because Sosoai Mas Oyama did not want it to become like kick boxing, 6 kicks then box the rest of the time. He wanted Karate. A lot of Kyokushin fighters enter other tournaments such as Mixed Martial arts and do very well. If you can't fight with your hands as well as your feet you are in trouble.

Why is there a lot of standing around and trading body blows? Is that normal for the style?
Very impressive power shown in the video, though. I like the well thought out kicks.
