Hi there, I am thinking of going to Taiwan to teach english but want to be able to learn martial arts while i am there. I currently learn Northern Mantis Kung Fu and would ideally want to continue and was wandering if anyone knows of anywhere to learn in Taiwan

I am asking because i searched via google and a thread appeared linked to here. Any help is really appreciated.
Thanks

Yes.

You may go to CKS or Dr. Sun Yat Sen park. There will be groups of people practicing CMA in the morning. Ask people around.

If you are in Taipei, you may also go to National University of Taiwan on Roosevelt RD. They have CMA clubs and ask them for teachers or classes of Northern Mantis or Bei Tang Lang.

best of luck.

Now, this kind of thread made me HOMESICK.

The best starting point is The Treasures of Taiwan: The Rich Martial Legacy of an Island of Controversy By Gigi Oh (with Gene Ching) in our 2003 March/April issue (http://ezine.kungfumagazine.com/magazine/article.php?article=317). That outlined several masters that Gigi met on a special promotional event that the Taiwan tourist board held, trying to promote martial tourism. We did several follow up articles focusing on many of the individual masters over the next several issues. I think the last of it was probably our Sword Collector's Special in 2005 (http://ezine.kungfumagazine.com/magazine/article.php?article=567), where we showcased Wang Sheng Ji.
