my band

we lost our bassist to an ear infection, lost our lead guitarist to cerebral spinal fluid leak. Now, it's just me and the drummer, but wtf, keep it going i guess :)

but yo, why the beams?

and tell your drummer to stop trying to eat the mic when he sings. it sounds bad.

Right I may get flamed for this....

With drummers you need to educate them slowly and carefully. You can't just say don't eat the mike. Try tossing him a chew toy instead. :D

lol. thanks!

you have to be careful with drummers, approach with caution etc etc.

called the beams because our first jam session we went so loud a chunk of the ceiling beams fell down and someone said "watch out for the beams". :)

If Rio Blanco Vermont wasn't so far away I'd love to play some guitar with Y'all. Sorry to hear about the Grateful Dead/Spinal Tap thing the band has going on..

Just a little friendly advice, as there's only the two of you, you might want to try backing off the gain a bit and then colouring your chords a bit. This'll make you sound bigger and more interesting. Even if you just played powerchords on the 5th string and added a fifth below it would sound much bigger and more powerful, but if you played some sevenths or sus4 chords (with a bit less gain, so you can hear them and it doesn't just turn to mush), it would fill a larger sonic spectrum, sounding bigger and better. If you find that you need a bit more, try adding a short delay.
How the hell did your lead player get a CSF leak?????

Obviously they didn't have much of a sound board here. You also you need a guitar solo in there someplace. That would make it much less punk-rockey/Green Day and more of a rock tune. But you probably had that in there before your lead guitarist leaked. ??? How does somebody leak CSF? That only happens with bad spinal taps, right?

Base of skull fracture and encephallitis are the usual culprits

That sounds nasty. Actually now that I think about it I've heard of this happening in a few cases but only with women who got epidurals.

i can understand quitting cuz your brain is leaking out of your head but what kinda ***** leaves a band becuz of an ear infection? that clears up in like a week..

lol thats like a bad break up excuse. "baby i can't be with you anymore cuz i got this bad sinus infection." wtf

anyway i hope they fixed that leak. is the guy alright?

now thats a kewl band name story bro. magazines will eat that **** up. lol

i woulda gone with "amp damage" or "death from above" or sumthin like, but i understand the sentimental value.

the "the" bands are a bit cliche now dont you think? no offense but theirs a new "The <fill-in-the-blank> band" every other week it seems. it'll be hard to distinguish yourself from the pack if you make it big.

nice stuff. I wold agree with Ben Gash, or go sterep chorus with two amps, slight delay and use a drop d tuning and you will fatten up nicely.
even with the bass, What are you playing through right now?

and whats wrong with punk ????

It's boring. It uses few chords. Greenday sucks.

Don't get me wrong -- I used to listen to punk back in the day but that day was a long time ago. IMHO the last decent punk band was Minor Threat.

Oh, I forgot about BB. But they weren't just a punk band.

yes thats right
u dont like it (or me) so therefore the people that do are by default stupid, bad and or retards

u stick with that

Now why would you think that I'd even bother to hate you? I don't know you, as far as I know you haven't done anything to harm my friends, family or me. Not much that I can do if you are so self absorbed that you think strangers hate you, and for the life of me I fail to see how what I like in regards to music would effect you. But if you by default are stupid, bad and or a retard be proud bubala, it might just suite you.

You also might want to learn who Stiv and Cheetah are you wanker.:p

sonic reducer is cool. dead boys are cool too, but as stated, getting hit by a taxi in paris is not a proper rock n' roll death. :( :p

I was on tour in Europe when my cuz was killed in Paris after stepping off a curb. He died the week before we were going to meet up in Holland. I was looking forward to getting him on stage and playing Kick Out the Jams. When I got back his mom gave me his amp, which I still have. At least it's a better rock n roll death than choking on your own vomit. RIP Cuz.

Yeah there was a lot of cool bands playing around NYC back in the day. Kids today think punk is dropping your E to D and using a lot of distortion. Piffle.

What do you call someone who hangs out with musicians?
A drummer.

What did the drummer get on his IQ test?
Drool.

How do you know when a drummer is knocking at your door?
The knock always slows down.

A drummer, sick of all the drummer jokes, decides to change his instrument. After some thought, he decides on the accordion. So he goes to the music store and says to the owner, "I'd like to look at the accordions, please."

The owner gestures to a shelf in the corner and says "All our accordions are over there."

After browsing, the drummer says, "I think I'd like the big red one in the corner."

The store owner looks at him and says, "You're a drummer, aren't you?"

The drummer, crestfallen, says, "How did you know?"

The store owner says, "That `big red accordion' is the radiator."

anarchy in the uk vid by the s bators and the dead boys is hella mess. lol

excellent stuff!

if'n one likes the punkage.

punk's about a lot of things. mostly, it's angry hippies with switchblades. :D

rogue
02-08-2007, 06:23 PM
Funny about the hippies with switchblades, and not to far from some of the guys back in the late 70's that I knew.:D A lot of us came from other types of music and brought that with us.

Here's one of the missing links between punk and metal. The guys with the fros are Handsome **** Manitoba and Mark The Animal Mendoza of Twisted Sister fame, and the guy with the LP went on to start Manowar.

BTW David, What kind of gear are you using?

David Jamieson
02-08-2007, 08:19 PM
Crate dual channel 50watt amp, and a fender american, yeah it's gained, but i don't use no pedals. mic is a 89 buck jobber and it's a yorkville PA. The drummers kit is a gretsch with an ayotte snare a mix of zildjan and sabian symbols and a couple of weird forged things.

FuXnDajenariht

i dont get into punk that much. i do like the so called crust bands. like um Discharge and Amebix. i dig Dillinger Escape Plan too. Cryptic Slaughter and Suicidal Tendencies rock too even though sum might label em more on the metal side.

its funny how punk kids and metal kids used to go around bashin each others brains in and now they have this weird, gay inbreeding thing going on. all that metalcore and emo crapola you see on mtv. blech* :p having hardcore influence is the new thing now. they label everything metalcore even when its not. lol the critics ruined the music scene just as much as the music execs if you ask me.
