This has been posted in both the Taiji forum and the main kungfu forum as I received requests about myself in both forums, and I know not everyone who reads this one, reads the other and vice versa.

I was unable to find some pictures of myself during the time that the tread of "Post a picture of yourself" was active here in the Kung Fu Forum. Now, I have finally begun gathering some of the pictures of Taiji in Alaska with myself and the some of the many friends I practice with.

Included in the below you will also find a few pictures of the teacher I study under now, as well as some other excellent martial artists. The main thing you will below is photographs of taijiquan, in action or in stillness, both in truth the same thing :)

In this picture all hell broke loose on the beautiful rocks near Bird Point, Alaska. As you can see, practicing taiji outdoors in Alaska is something any person who lives here is grateful for. Sometimes the surroundings are just too much, and you have to stop right in the middle of your form and stare off into the distance.

In the above picture, I am in the center, wearing brown pants, with a staff held horizontally above my head.

This is one of the local taiji practioners showing off the taiji fan form! Considerably, not the most popular form, it is still quite a marvelous one to watch.

A little something for those who think tai chi is just a bunch of slow movements. Here you can see a stillshot of some taiji combat between two of my fellow taiji practioners, both excellent at the art.

The Taiji Moose decided to stop by and watch some taiji in action!

Some of the greatest women you will ever meet, sitting on the rocks overlooking the Chugiak mountain range behind them. Just a few of the great women of taiji here in Alaska. They are enjoying their well deserved champagne on the rocks, and I believe I am taking the photo.

(left to right)
Shifu Kurt Wong - Kung Fu, Tai Chi.
Sensei Masa Ando - Kendo, Iaido.
Shifu Warren Pretlow - Tai Chi.
Sensei Calvin Koshiyama - Aikido.
Sensei Steven Conairis - Karate, Iaido.

Just to mention it, Kurt Wong is a teacher of Chen style taijiquan, 7-star praying mantis, and bajiquan, amongst probably many other styles he is well versed in. As far as I know, there actually members on this forum whom are his students.

In the center of the photo, you will see my teacher, Warren Pretlow, whose main focus is of course taijiquan, but also teaches Pa Kua, hsing-i, and several other styles/forms/applications to his dedicated and commited students of taiji here in Alaska.

Well, that is it! Enjoy the pictures, and lets hope you have gained some insight and a small taste of the martial arts in Alaska ;)

Beatiful pics. As a flatlander from birth, I appreciate seeing mountains and trees. It's nice to see a healthy number of folks practicing the 'fu in Alaska.

Ciao
