Members of the spectacular Shenzen Acrobatic Circus will thrill crowds with amazing stunts, daredevil acts and balancing feats. Don't miss the Shaolin King Fun Spectacular (http://www.ifest.org/dnn/Entertainment/PerformingArtists/tabid/65/Default.aspx). Shaolin Monks, direct from China will demonstrate their spectacular martial arts.

Twenty Shaolin Monks, direct from China, demonstrate their spectacular martial arts (Kung Fu) during the second weeknd of the festival (http://www.ifest.org/dnn/Entertainment/HearOurArtists/tabid/69/xmmid/485/xmid/64/xmview/2/Default.aspx).

China's Shaolin Temple has many legends and much mystery surrounding it. For centuries, the Shaolin monks have been named Kung Fu masters, and the Temple has been recognized as "The origin of all martial arts throughout the world."

The Shaolin Temple is probably the most famous temple in China because of its long history of Chinese Buddhism and its dynamic martial arts training. Historically, the Shaolin Temple was located in a geographically strategic area of China. Shaolin monks, because of their martial arts skill, protected China from wars and invasion, earning great respect during dynasties of Chinese Emperors. From ancient Shaolin monk heroes to modern Hollywood Kung Fu stars, like Jet Li & Jackie Chan, "Shaolin" remains supreme in martial arts mastery.

Don't miss the amazing demonstrations of different forms of martial arts at the WaMu Center Stage.

I don't recognize anyone in that pic, although for a moment I thought the guy in the back might be Shawn Liu. There are so many Shaolin touring troupes. This one doesn't look 'official', but official status only seems to matter to the Abbot.

just watched it
it def wasnt a monk show, they werent wearin robes. just black pants with the white socks and the black leg ties...and most had no shirt on..of ir they did.. they some weird white black wushu shirt on
didn use the omitofu bow when they end/start form, instead they use the open hand and closed fist bow most of the time.
this show was really different though. it had A LOT of tradtional FORMS in there.
saw taiji and bagua also.
i saw many that tradtional long fist form and seven star fist form with NO EXTRA ADDED WUSHU MOVEMENTS in it and some other traditional (made up?) loking forms that wasnt wushu flashy and stuff
but i missed the first 10-15 mins of it, so i dnt know wat happened then. there was bout 10 of them. it was alrite. they didnt seem like they were tryin very hard IMO.

tryin to upload some videos right now

any of the other houston guys see it?

I saw the show, was initially there because my school did a performance also. I spoke with the monks. They were all 33rd (Yong) generation monks. I thought the show was pretty cool.

Hey PK,

I saw the Sunday show. Yeah was interesting because the "Monks" were very much on the down low. No orange robes, bags or Shaolin mysticism. It was mainly just kung fu. After the show there was a chance to buy t-shirts and what not. Only the old monk wearing the tradtional robes who did the insane stretching seemed to dressed as a monk...maybe he was the shifu? I asked one of the I-Fest workers where they were from and he said Beijing. So who knows. Nice performance....took photos couldnt get any video. If you do get a decent video maybe you can send me a copy? Thanks.
