Quick question: Is there a tangible source for the story of the thirteen monks who saved the emperor's kidnapped son? In the west, we often develop these stories into folk tales, even folk novels, and China does have several of these (Journey to the West, Water Margin).........

So is there a source for the thirteen monks story that has more flesh/meat to it than a simple, general recounting of it? I'm wanting to create a graphic novel based on it.......some more details (some more accuracy) would be nice.:D

...but it doesn't say anything about meat eating. If you want to learn about meat eating, see Meat, Wine, and Fighting Monks: Did Shaolin Monks breach Buddhist Dietary Regulations? (http://ezine.kungfumagazine.com/ezine/article.php?article=521) by Dr. Meir Shahar.

Hahahahahaha.............

I didn't mean meat-eating, etc.....lol....

I just meant more details, names, etc.....

Haahahaha.....:D

But cool info, nonetheless. I have my own story. But historical details, names, etc. might be nice.

Okay, I found the names of three monks who headed the raiding part of 13:

Zhi Cao, Hui Yang, Tan Zong

Anyone verify this?

Hi Guy's,

Since 1995 i have had a Shaolin Kung Fu History page @ http://www.shaolin.com.au/history.html. I spent quite a while finding out details on Shaolin history including a visit to Shaolin in 2001. Yet one of the items where i have been missing information is in reference to the 13 monks. I have already sighted the transcription of the Shaolin Stone referencing the 13 Monks and would be interested in any other reference material.

Thank you for your Help

egads, there are a lot of "fiction" from old chinese fictional novels being presented as facts in your history! Please, for the sake of accuracy fix them!
read my site for non fiction info: www.bgtent.com/naturalcma

thanks!
