an interesting clip about the legends and history of China/ Shen Zhou or god's land/state.

1. the legend said one of the king rode the dragon/snake to the heaven and acquire the glory of god.

in parallel, adam and even ate apple of wisdom to tell good from bad and acquire the wisdom of god.

2. one person ate one of the dragons(male and female) meat, the other dragon ran away. in revenge, there was a chest/box contained the curse and spit of the dragon. once opened, a woman was impregnated and delivered a baby girl. she was abandoned and found by a couple. the girl name is bao si. she married to Zhou You Wang or king of Zhou. the only time she smiled is when she saw army of many states called upon by the fire/smoke or Feng Huo. they did it too many times, when a true invasion came, no army is responding, and Zhou You Wang was assassinated. there is a saying one smile brought about the demise of a nation. it is about the story of bao si. china then entered into 500 years of killing each other or warring states. so it is a curse.

3. instead of worshiping god, since the emperor takes the place. china worshipped emperors. till recently.---

--

dragon is like snake. it is a thing of ill will or evils etc. since when, the dragon became popular. the emperor is the enbodiment of the dragon, and the people are descendents of dragon, --

very interesting and provoking thoughts.

Yeah that's why we have wars. It's not like god never told anybody to kill anybody else right?

I hate religion, people are always making up stupid **** to justify their beliefs.

If only we had enough faith, God would come down from heaven and solve all our problems and we would never have to do anything for our selves. We would live in a land of puffy marshmallows and care bears. There would never be any wars and we would all love one another and braid each others hair.

“for many have pictured republics and principalities which in fact have never been known or seen, because how one lives is so far distant from how one ought to live, that he who neglects what is done for what ought to be done, sooner effects his ruin than his preservation; for a man who wishes to act entirely up to his professions of virtue soon meets with what destroys him among so much that is evil.” - Machiavelli, The Prince

Don't confuse the way you wish the world was for the way it is.

*I have a little pent up frustration over a literature class that has turned into a theology class so I'm taking it out on your post.*

agreed that belief system may be private and personal.

the tv series also carried some political message that not all people may agree.

--

however, after cultural revolution, basically confucianism, and religions of all sorts were destroyed. in place are market economy/capitalism, etc.

the tv series may be a source of soul searching for many people in China right now.

especially the younger generation that were born after cultural revolution.

Indeed. It's hard to say how much is revisionism or further interpretations of what may have happened.

Hard to say as well how this void will be filled. It's like China has a chance to rewrite what was already an incredibly rich history replete with good and evil of all sorts.

How much of the new revision will encompass a whole new core belief system for the next generation to turn to?

It happens with most cultures. Truth is lost on a whim when it's not convenient to the conventional wisdom...whatever that represents. :p
