Lots of smoke here but nothing to really back it up. I would have to see some hard statistical data that repeated before I would buy that. The 9/11 lady who had stomach cramps before she got on the plane....it happens everyday.

The fact that the planes were only half full. It doesn't take a genius to realize the hijackers researched this and picked flight that probably would be less traveled to avoid additional risk.

Also, there are other factors involved. People may have saw Arabs getting on the plane and had, maybe even without realizing it, a feeling of unease.

There's too many pratical explanations that needs to be explained before you move into the rheam of predicting the future.

I remember a song Que sera sera.

will I be-- and what will be will be.

let things be. or let it be.

the future may not be for ours to see.

--

cause and effect. we reap what we saw.

--

accumulate good deeds so that things have good results.

could you try speaking in plain english all these broken english attempts at haiku-ifying sentences serve nothing more than to turn potential readers away from the message u are trying to convey (assuming there is one)

i know english must not be your first language

but u really should sharpen up if u want to engage in any kind of intelligent discussion

Along the lines of constructive criticisms, it's actually "you reap what you sow"
(like sowing seeds - not sewing buttons :D "

we can certainly predict the future.

see it.....thats doubtful.

many a master strategist has displayed accute skill at predicting the future, this is evident throughout history.

pish-tosh, I can see the future, but then it immediately becomes the past.

Another way - fly on an airplane, I forget my general relativity, but I think it takes you seven seconds into the future (or past)...

i remember reading this article (wish i had it)

they took 2 syncronized military clocks. on one an airbase, one on a fighter jet.

when the jet landed, the clock was either slower or faster then the one on the ground.

I've never heard that.

It is true that as you approach the speed of light time slows down....However an airplane could not attain a fast enough speed to even measure. I guess it could be a billionth of a nano second..........but surely not 7 seconds.

the experiment i described was not a lot of time. miliseconds/nanoseconds (not sure but it was fractional). and thats with a fighter jet for a good distance i believe.

300 billioniths of a second. So that wasn't too far off...:D

SPJ has the mind of a poet.

It takes effort, practice and an ability to change perspective in order to understand poetry. This is because it originates from a portion of the brain that is seldom used.

One must THINK about SPJ's posts in order to understand them. Think of it as exercising a muscle that is seldom used. At first it is stiff and sore, but with continued use it becomes stronger and more flexible. Eventually, the muscle is able to perform beyond your former expectations.

The ability to think is a skill professed by many, but possessed by few.

One will only benefit by having their world system view and ossified patterns of thinking challenged.

25% of the time, anyone can be a psychic.

the ratio of 25% is considered the normal and average amount of times you will be correct on a guess.

the article indicates nothing contrary to this.

But man, it does prattle on a lot about nothing.

and why does it say "many" scientists?

who are these scientists? lol

I always laugh when someone says "scientists say this or that".
I mean. science has gotten a lot oft hings wrong over the millenia.

but at least they are trying.

I just tested my 10 year old son on a random coin toss website:

http://www.stat.tamu.edu/~west/applets/psychictest.html

He did two cycles of twenty guesses, blind. He was away from the computer screen and did not know the results of any of his guesses until the end of the twenty guesses.

On the second run I tried not to look at the results myself.

When I tried it I scored 30% I figure I am anti-psychic, LOL!!

His first score was 70%, the second was 75%. Random guesses should give a 50% result!

About a month ago he was with his mom (my ex) coming out of a grocery store. He spontaneously asked her to buy a Lottery ticket. It was not for the big draw, but one of those instant winner ones. She won $65,000. I am going to train him to choose lottery numbers next, but first more coin toss practice.

screw the practice, clearly he's a natural.

Well he says he is just lucky, LOL!!

While twice is not a definite pattern, it does look promising. If I win the lottery I think I will share some of the wealth. I'll buy everyone a vowel!:)

I was reading a book called "The Holographic Mind" and it was talking about some experiments they did where they showed the test subjects random images and measured their pulse and brainwaves.

The people were shown various pictures of random things. Every once in a while, they'd show a photo of a dead corpse, somebody beaten to death...just gruesome images.

Anyhow, though people were unable to predict what they would see next...there was something peculiar that happened.

Everytime they showed a grotesque image, about a second before, they would register the person getting an elevated pulse and heightened brain activity which was exactly what people experience when fear kicks in.

But they were experiencing it before they even saw the images. Like they knew what image was coming next.

i thought from a buddhist point of view (well a mahayana one) any work or merit gained is worthless unless it is in the direct pursuit of enlightenment

i thought from a buddhist point of view (well a mahayana one) any work or merit gained is worthless unless it is in the direct pursuit of enlightenment

According to Bodhidharma and Hui-Neng, good works bestow blessings, but do not bestow merit. Good works create beneficial consequences/effects (blessings) in the world system, but do not contribute to attaining an unobstructed mind/realization/enlightenment (merit).
