Hey I'm just curious if there is a trend for certain personality types to be attracted to certain types of martial arts. It also might be an opportunity for people posting on this forum to understand each other a bit better. So if you're bored at work or have some time to kill take the test here:

it was actually fairly accurate by my own accounts. i think my aversion to polictics effected some of the scores a little in the wrong direction, but its a 120 question test so its not gonna be dead on.

my original styles were wudan/pukulan, currently jiujitsu/judo and play with a little boxing when i have the chance. most of my training time is spent lifting.

Its not a "test" in that sense. People that score near the middle on everything tend to do well in careers as managers and facilitators. So fear not, it doesn't mean you failed anything.

I got a 15 and i train shaolin and wing chun primarily....though i will begin taiji some time soon.....

kyokushin hard
san da hard
chen taiji (hard to an extent)

now unless shaolin starts to look like any of the above in sparring or training methods at least
i'm afraid in my eyes most of it will remain for show and in that sense only is it external
external ceases to mean the same as hard these days

and most internal will remain for health unless they buck up their ideas aswell

it seems more and more that our "martial" arts are becoming just arts

i know that alot of you on this board can in fact fight with some proficiency with their kung fu

but u are the exception to the rule

anybody can fight but it takes a true martial artist to fight well

man am i gonna get flamed for this :D

as you state, its all in the way you train. many traditional shaolin exersizes and styles are considered to be 'hard' or external styles and methods, within the cma context at least...

(side note, the man i learned my shaolin from, specializes in chen style taiji...)

as well the wing chun that i train, the training begins with power generation in the early stages. we dont focus on the internal aspect, at least not at the point i am at. its all conditioning, drills, two man drills, dummy, and power. of course there is the form, but even in our form we are drilling primarily the power in each technique as well as the form.
