View Full Version : The Ginkgo Root/Core
I know that the ginkgo leaves are of medicinal value, but I was wondering if the rizome, root, bark or heartwood have any medicinal properties as well. I haven't really been able to find any information on these parts of the tree.

The nut of the Ginko tree is highly valued in Chinese medicine (more than the leaf, actually) for its astringent properties that treat cough, "leakage of jing/essence" and calm the mind. They are slightly toxic, though so do your homework before making candied cinnamon Ginko nuts! Do a search for "Bai Guo".
Good luck
