Was looking around youtube and found a video of a guy doin a sword form. a few of the comments were:
This is a basic Northern Sword Form. This is a well documented form. You can even find a book on this

Its the 32-part intermediate Dao form from modern wushu -- go check!!

In our choy lay fut curriculum we have a sword form called Fu May Dan Do.
Has a different beginning but very closely resembles the above form. The "northern" version has some extra movements but still appears to have come from the same original form. here is the choy lay fut version. it is done on this video. The second and last performance on this video is the choy lay fut fu may dan do

so, can anyone give any info/history on this form?
i have heard that the name fu may dan do is a popular sword form. the same form or just the name?
thanks

We do this form as well, in a slightly different variation. When I saw the book by Bow Sim Mark, I realised it was the same form. I called Master Mark and asked her about it. She said although it goes by different names,(Such as Hang Yuet Dahn-Dao) it is most popularly known as Fu Mei Dahn-Dao Tiger Tail Single Braodsword, a very traditional set and the most widely practiced in China, which is why they used it as the foundational dahn-dao set for contemporary wu-shu. Bow Sim Mark was on the board that created the earlier sets, and many are taken from traditional sets such as Tiger-Crane. You will also find many different variations of the eight diagram staff, and the flying dragon gim.

Yeah, could well be it's just one of those ubiquitis forms such as Piguadao/ Pek Gwa Do, that pretty much everyone does.
