I just moved to Dallas and was looking into schools in the area and found this: http://www.swyi.com/

Seems pretty good from their website but obviously it'd be better to know that it's good before I start going to check them out and stuff ( I know that the best is to go and sit in on a class sometime, but it's out of the way and I don't have a car yet... ). I didn't find anything about it from a search of the forums. So, anyone go there or know people that do? Any help is appreciated.

Cool deal, thanks. I had already looked at Lee's White Leopard website, and had it on my list of places to check out. I'll look through the other URLs you posted and check them out as well.

MasterKiller, I'll take your word for it, but I'm curious why you say that? Obviously websites don't provide enough information to make an informed choice, but I'd still like to get this all straight in my head before deciding.

Thanks again.

www.swyi.com HeyYYYYYYY.....That's the school I go to. n00854180t I just sent you a PM. Gave you more info on SWYI. Also the school has only been open since Sept of 2006 so the instructor to student ratio is great. A few of the black belts from the old school followed him to this school. We have 5 instructors including Sifu. We have 2 asst instructors.

Shaolin Martials arts in Farmers Branch( http://www.shaolinmartialarts.com ) is the same as Shaolin Wu Yi. Its where my Sifu came from. Although my Sifu added to the curriculum and made it a bit more structured. So whichever is closer to you. Good one to check out either or.

That shaolin kick boxing....ehhh....its OK.....They also teach a kickboxing calls in McKinney somewhere if you are in the Plano/Frisco/McKinney area.

There is Master Wong in Richardson. He is with the Chin Woo organization. So obviously its Long Fist. http://www.jkwongkungfutaichi.com/
Chin Woo is also hosting the Taiji Legacy, largest CMA tournament in DFW. You should check it out.

The other one is Master Lee. He teaches Mizong Lawhorn. http://www.leeswhiteleopardkungfu.com/
He has annual contracts though. Not sure how you feel about that.

For internal arts I recommend these 2 schools:
http://www.southernskykungfu.com/ = Bagua and Long Fist
http://www.cheng-ming-usa.org/ Hsing I, Bagua and Taiji.

There is also a Praying Mantis school and a Wing Chun school, but can't vouch for them as I have not checked them out. There is also a Hung Gar school in Garland. No web addy for them though. Look in the yellow pages.

Me too....I am curious. Be brutal and honest, ya ain't gonna hurt my fellings. Always interested in opinions. :D If you know an pertinent info, do share. PM me if you don't want to air it out in public.

Only been there a few months and so far its good. Starting at the beginning level, so, its been a refresher course for me. And after taking 12+yrs off from all MA, I need a refresher course.
