The Harlem martial arts scene is really rough. Watch how the fight escalates. One martial artist walks in with his pals and starts crap with some Kung Fu guy in the middle of the movie. After that, some big guys from the crowd try unsuccessfully to shut this guy up. Some martial artists step up too. A big brawl ensues.
One guy is even taken out of the fight by a bite to the ankle! :eek:

The Last Dragon is a wicked movie, one of the last tributes to the great blacksploitation films of the past.

ernie reyes jr was badass in that movie.

on a side note, does anyone here actually remember when taimak (leroy) was actually competing in the tournament scene? I remember seeing him in a lot of tournament updates back then.

Wasn't he trying to make a sequel to the "Last Dragon"?

I seem to remember him coming here and discussing it a year or so ago.

I remember but no details. Wasn't he trained by van Clief at some point or am I mixing it up?

The very first tournament I entered was hosted by Ron Van Clief but I don't know if Taimak was there or not. Heck I might have sparred him for all I know. That was back in the 70's.
