Andrew, you know your Sifu can "bang". You also know there are people here who say they know the right way WC should be done and they WILL tell us . . . online. ;)
If any of the keyboard warriors try to flame that video just laugh it off.

Hey Andrew,
i like the intergrated boxing and JJ. The training parts in the montage once the ring boxing vision comes in looks very live and fun, however short in the vid.

I like the bong's used in the ring to, Bongs quite a natural action for me against kicks or big swings when i spar my mates. I tend to be turning my body more for power from momentum but even in this vid when the guy (is that rick ?) just raises his bong, it serves to stop the kicks.... nice.

I like it. Def more functional than most other vids of the Chun around.

My only negitive comment is, in the first ring fight shown there is a nice heavy left hook that looks like its going for the KO...but the shot cuts to soon.....
I want to see his body hit the floor :o poor show by the editor :D.

Cheers Mate.

Though not WC I figured I'd post this clip.
"Lil" John Davis and Southern Mantis Sifu Ralph Mitchell, helped train me for my first full contact fight. Here is a clip of my full time trainer Yoel Judah.

Awesome video, Andrew. Rick Spain is clearly an excellent all-around fighter - and one of the very best TWC students GM William Cheung ever had. Probably within the top 5 ever...which is really saying something considering the fact that he's had thousands of students through the years.

And I definitely like the way Rick integrates the jiu jitsu into chi sao and so on. The boxing fits the scheme of things nicely as well.

Sorry there was so much internal politics going on when he visited the States and did a seminar here in New Jersey back around late 1997/early 1998. Joe Grepo was the host and really wanted me to go to that - but I had to refuse at the time.

Anyway, I see why you've stuck with Rick for so long. The guy is really good.

Btw...do you appear in the video anywhere?

Vic,

No, I'm not in the vid. While the two guys in shorts were sparring, I was up the back of the gym doing some gi grappling.

Joy, Liddel, Phil, thanks.

Anyone flaming that needs their head examined.SR,
I think Andrew posted the clip knowing full well that no one would flame it. Although on this forum anything is possible.

I thought that video was pretty well done - shows elements of a bunch of different types of training, was good bite-sized clips, good music. For a video that is kind of a school and training introductory, it is one of the best I've seen. I like the little skeleton fade in and outs that are very modern.

Rick Spain looks like he has quite a lot of weapons - good legs, some ground skills besides wing chun training.

Cool vid, man.
