Looks to be up after Iron Man - if it pans out. Rumors abound that Marvel is gearing up for a full-on Avengers movie.

Hey Zeus "El Saviour" Christe, if we get a good Thor and Captain America movie, I'll actually pay for a Marvel comic again.

The revamped Hulk will be after Iron Man.

I'm fearful of creative license with how a movie studio would make Thor look. I wouldn't be surprised either if they made him speak in perfect American english, rather than with a Germanic accent.

If only Frank Miller would do Thor and have Jack Kirby as a visual advisor, or at least Simonson. I think Jeremy Irons might make an interesting Loki., or maybe even David Bowie. Just a thought.

Mathew (layer cake & Stardust) Vaughn has signed on to Produce and perhaps direct a THOR film. There's been some rumors of using Weta's production design and FX crew for it as well.

The rumors are flying about struggles between director Matthew Vaughn and Marvel about who should wield Mjolnir, with Marvel's alleged lead candidate Paul Levesque (popularly known as wrestler Triple H) being no good for Vaughn.

Then IESB claims that Vaughn's favorite for the part is "Rome" actor Kevin McKidd is the right guy for the pointy helmet.

That wouldn't be too bad. He at least is a good actor.
However I hope they pay attention to the characters enough to not let them come across looking too hokey.
I still shudder when I think of the Cap movie.

Does anyone remember the Shield/Nick Fury Tv pilot with David Hasslehoff?(priceless)

Also the Man Thing movie was so bad it became comedy just to see a man in a rubber suit.

Man, I would hope they wouldn't use Paul Levesque; he would either speak in a typical American accent or come off as more of a joke trying to do a Scandinavian accent.

I might get plastered for this, but at least appearance-wise, a young Dolph Lundgren would have been a better fit, though I can't say one way or another on his acting. I'm sure he could have suppressed his acquired American accent for the role.

But I think a European would be better for the part anyway. (and for Odin, Loki, etc.).

anyone watch that movie Pathfinder?

I liked the somewhat dark, melodic feel they gave the vikings.

Thor needs a tad smidgen of that dark, viking, deathseeking, vallhalla nut riding, die by the sword living berserker mind set.

if its all bright and marvely ill probably be upset.

it needs to have on evil SOB to play loki, and thor needs to be as hardcore as Hercules mixed with Conan and with a twist of batman.

I wonder what kind of story line they will go with. Hopefully they won't mess it up like they did Fantastic Four.

If they wanted to do CGI stuff they could do the Ragnarok kinda story line, with Syrtr (sp?), the midguard serpeant, frost giants, the Fenris wolf and the like. Or maybe even the death of Balder, and get some hottie to play the Enchantress.

Well like you, it was boring, the plot looked atrocious, the costume and the guy playing Thor (A nordic god) looked weak. Might have been better cast with Steven Seagal in the lead! :D Nothing to be intrigued by. Maybe its my fault, the Avengers and Thor were amongst my favorite comic book heroes...Thor is probably one of the badassest superheroes...it was pathetic and I'm not a harsh movie critic. I have really enjoyed the Blade series, Spiderman, Xmen, Iron Man etc...hulk and fantastic four were ok at best. It just seems as good as some of these films have been in recent years, they could have put something much more Marvelous together.

What do you think?

I understand they needed to tie in the movie with the Avengers project, but they really missed the boat with this one. ( I will still see it, the trailer is'nt that bad)
But the tales of Germanic mythology that they could have taken from would have made this a super heroe-esque movie of the ilk of Lord of the Rings. The stories from the Edda and Poetic Edda are rich and more than enough to build a script from, especially the ragnarok arc, but, I guess they figured most viewers wouldn't buy in.
I think the casting looks good, it was good to see the brothers three in the trailer, and addition of the destroyer is a nod to Thor comic fans. I actually wish they would have casted someone a bit heftier to be Odin.
It is my hope that these next Marvel movies won't fail and crush the idea of super hero movies, but I also hope that the movie studios will come to realize that most of the stories are already so developed in the comics that they don't need to go so far from the foundations that are already laid down. Just use the comics themselves like a story board and make a comic based movie truly based on the comic.

i think we are all forgetting that, when thor first started out,it was as a human who when using the hammer would turn into thor. and i think they wanted to touch on that, instead of the whole norse myth thing. they could save that. i mean yeah it would have been kinda cool...but then it wouldnt have been a movie about a super hero now would it?

MARVEL is working off of the template developed in the ULTIMATE line of comics... in this case THE ULTIMATES.

The "is he crazy or is he a god?" is straight out of that series.

As well as Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury.

I would bet much of the Avengers movie will be, a'hem; drawn from this permutation of the comic series.

Starving Chris Hemsworth dislocates finger mastering jiu-jitsu (http://www.torontosun.com/2013/11/06/starving-chris-hemsworth-dislocates-finger-mastering-jiu-jitsu)

http://storage.canoe.ca/v1/dynamic_resize/sws_path/suns-prod-images/1297488570429_ORIGINAL.jpg?quality=80&size=420x
"Thor' star Chris Hemsworth is nursing a painful hand injury after dislocating his finger while trying to master Brazilian jiu-jitsu.

The actor was practising the martial art with a pal when he fell awkwardly.

Hemsworth recalls, "He was showing me a thing or two and I fell back on it and it ended up at a right angle to my hand and the knuckle was sitting, like, half an inch down under my hand.

"My friend grabbed it and put it back in but it is rather swollen still."

And to make matters worse, Hemsworth is also starving himself for a new role in a film about the true events that inspired author Herman Melville to write 'Moby ****.'

He explains, "(It's about) a bunch of sailors in a whaling ship, which gets struck by a whale, the ship sinks and they jump onto the small rafts and drift for 90 days and begin to die and eat each other.

"We have to get rather skinny, so we're on about five or six hundred calories a day... You've never heard 15 guys, big burly guys playing sailors, talking about their calorie count and what they should and shouldn't eat.

"It ends up being a couple of small salads, a couple of small pieces of protein and that's kind of it. You go to bed hungry and then you have a fasting period of, like, 15 hours... and then you have little meals through the day."

This one stands to be more sci-fi/fantasy rather than super-hero-ey. Which maybe means more swords.

So relevant to everything we discuss here. ;)

Thor & Loki hug it out in Chinese ‘Thor: The Dark World’ poster mix-up (http://ca.movies.yahoo.com/blogs/wide-screen/thor-loki-hug-chinese-thor-dark-world-poster-193807252.html)
By Will Perkins | Wide Screen – Fri, 8 Nov, 2013 2:38 PM EST

And here we thought Thor and his villainous half-brother Loki didn’t get along!
A hilarious mix-up at a Shanghai, China cinema has resulted in a fan-made image being used as the official poster for “Thor: The Dark World.” The digitally altered image, which originally turned up on Reddit, features Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Loki (Tom Hiddleston) in an uncharacteristically tender embrace -- it's likely the work of erotic fan fiction enthusiasts. Why the theatre opted to use the fan-made poster and not the official Chinese “Thor: The Dark World” poster is unknown.
http://l1.yimg.com/bt/api/res/1.2/aXFnbHhLwv7sD7jUJLkCdw--/YXBwaWQ9eW5ld3M7cT04NTt3PTMxMA--/http://media.zenfs.com/en-CA/blogs/wide-screen/131108b-thor-1.jpg
The original “Thor 2” poster depicts Thor (Chris Hemsworth), hammer in hand, protecting main squeeze Jane Foster (Natalie Portman). The Thor/Loki version, on the other hand, implies that the two demigod half-brothers are in some sort of romantic relationship (only in your dreams and Tumblr blogs, Internet weirdos!). Though the fake poster may be taking liberties with the true nature of the Asgardians’ relationship, it at least it gets the movie’s title right -- the Chinese characters on both posters literally translate to “God of Thunder.”
Erotic fan fiction is a little-discussed element of fandom, but one that has had a surprising impact on the literary world and in Hollywood. This poster mix-up is just a case of that fandom being exposed to the greater public. E.L. James’ infamous “Fifty Shades of Grey” began its life as “Twilight Saga” S&M fanfic, and Cassandra Clare’s “The Mortal Instruments” series started off as a hard-edged “Harry Potter” fan-fiction called “The Draco Trilogy.”
Thor and Loki are far from the only unlikely gay coupling to come out of the fan community. One of the most famous fan-fiction tropes is called Kirk/Spock, an entire fan-made subgenre which depicts Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock of “Star Trek” fame as being in a serious romantic/sexual relationship. If you can think of two or more fictional characters, there’s a good chance that there’s a small but dedicated online community devoted entirely to writing about and/or illustrating a relationship between them.

over all a good flick. i enjoyed it at least. broke away from the superhero style and was really just a fantasy movie.

great special effects, a lot of fun in 3d.

the dark elves were cool.

heimdall (idris Elba) gets a bad ass action scene too.

This does beg the question of will there be a gay super hero? Surely one of them is in the closet at this point, so who's the 'gayest' (I mean this in the best way imaginable) super hero?

Lets speculate...lots of colorful tight package hugging outfits, some of these villans and super heros have been in many a parade...

The go to would be if there was a Catholic Priest Super Hero aka the Pope, but that hasn't seem to come across in comic book lore.

My money is on Samewise Gamji or Mr Xavier (he's just a little too meticulous). Not that there is anything wrong with that Lucas...just saying.

A gay superhero!?

Get with the times. There was one in the 80's. He was a French/Canadian Mutant named Northstar (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northstar).
http://www.lonelygods.com/graphics/h/northstar_gay.gif

Since then, (http://www.lonelygods.com/hom.html). dozens of superheroes (http://lencannon.hubpages.com/hub/Gay-Comic-Book-Characters)have come out of the closet (http://www.thebacklot.com/ten-gay-superheroes-who-broke-new-ground/07/2009/) — mainstream and indie characters (http://www.gayleague.com/wordpress/characters/). Including official DC comics BATMAN/SUPERMAN analogs Midnighter/Apollo (http://www.complex.com/pop-culture/2013/11/history-of-diversity-in-superhero-comics/apollo-and-midnighter-marry) and the post don't-ask-don't-tell BATWOMAN (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/09/05/batwoman-dc-comics-gay-marriage_n_3873508.html)
