You didn't search very hard. I just typed in "1975 film spiritual boxer" and found this:

You should have asked the question differently. You wrote it as if you wanted more info on the movie. Again, you didn't look very hard. I just typed in "shenda spirit boxing" and found the following:

Here is an article from the same site that discusses the boxing style and its influence on movies: http://www.kungfucinema.com/articles/20051220_01.htm

Here is a webpage that cites an article from the Journal of Asian Martial Arts that deals with spiritual boxing: http://www.dctkd.org/bibliography/readInfo.cfm?pubID=576

I typed in "shenquan spirit boxing" and found the following:

http://books.google.com/books?id=8hiGU_tJEocC&pg=PA96&lpg=PA96&dq=shenquan+spirit+boxing&source=web&ots=PoV9JDr1U2&sig=BAkkUi54xWeiC8jQqtNepwou9BI

This Journal paper mentions spirit boxing:

http://links.jstor.org/sici?sici=0097-7004(198901)15%3A1%3C102%3AIATCPT%3E2.0.CO%3B2-4

These were not very hard to find. I hope this helps.

Thanks dude...Extrajoseph told me to look into shen da after I asked about the clip in this video at the four minute mark http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NmfgLD0Vw-I&mode=related&search=

I wasn't in the mood to google for a dictionary on the topic... I was hoping some older kung fu peeps would have some stories for me:)

Did buddy cut his tongue to get the adrenaline flowing in order to get into the zone for his gung fu?...

I remember for a month I had stitches on my head and I developed a funky tai chi in my Gung Fu as I had to hit the bag with proper focus...too light and I would get antsy and bored...too heavy I'd rip the stitches, so I would just tap tap tap it....once the stitches came off a month later, I was then able to really explode into the surface of the bag:)

It's a very touchy subject to say the least. It's still practiced by a very small group, but not talked about openly. Some styles are linked to it more than others.

Shen Quan/Sun Da...
~Don't do it!
Possessory work; that is, having "entities" work through you, is the final major step in removing yourself the cycle of death and rebirth. Without liberation...
If you want the Loa doing Gongfu with your fist instead of a Priest's, then go ahead.

Yes!

Of course, I've heard the usual stories, and I've also had a few from people with first hand knowledge. That's is why I say it's a touchy topic that those in the know choose not to talk about openly. I mean, either you believe in it or you don't. Those that don't believe can be very condescending to say the least.

Cool...I'm only into the physical energy side of it all...Using trance to pump the adrenaline to kick butt:)
