It occurs to me that folks on this board may have a different understanding of certain commonly used terms, so I think it's important to agree on true meanings to foster an atmosphere in which insults can be more clearly understood.

I'll start:

'Shoot' - expletive - what you whisper when your favorite, never-tested defense-against-takedowns technique fails miserably and you find yourself gradually fading from consciousness in a rear naked choke.

'Troll' - noun/verb - someone who posts things you don't like/the act of posting things you don't like

'Woman' - noun - a female of the human species which, while attainable, can provide no lasting happiness for Royal Dragon

Feel free to contribute as you will.

Troll needs to be changed. If someone says they like a certain kung fu movie and why, but someone else doesn't like what was said because they thought something different, how can that be trolling?

Hippie - noun - someone that posts thoughts that could only be thought of when under the influence of some kind of mind altering substance(s), when you haven't showered in days and reek of bong water and vegetarian 'meats'.

RonH,

The above definition of troll is a tongue in cheek joke.

'Open-minded' - adjective - the belief that what you believe or accept is more intelligent and evolved than what most others believe or accept, typically coupled with the belief that others who think they're more open-minded than you are just crazy or stupid.

moron - noun - someone who is a troll, doesn't get the concept of sarcasm and thinks he/she is so much more open minded then the rest of the world that they need to correct someone who is obviously making a joke

dueche dingleberry - noun - see moron, above; also the founder of one of the lesser known (and generally less socially appreciated) Hobbitt clans

RonH - proper noun - see Neal Hytholt / Lunghushan for full definition

sell-out - noun - any teacher of TCMA who adapts or alters his 5,000+ year old tradition in order to perform scandolous activities such as actually teaching his students something of relevance to the 21st century, paying his rent, supporting his family and having more than one pair of socks and underwear available per week

'I am not the problem here' - phrase - commonly used by the person who IS, in fact, the actual problem at the location in question

'limp' - adjective - see also, 'elastic'. A little-practiced defense against elbows, attainable by mastering chi, or by thinking furiously about baseball or some other non-sexual endeavor.

random question: if something weighs 10 catties, how much would that be in pounds?

I guess it would depend on the weight of each individual small cat?

I shall be the one who takes everything too seriously...

Since one catty equals about 600 g, 10 catties is 6 kilos. wich comes to about 13 pounds, give or take.

edit: there is some contention as to what a cattie is, as it is a folk unit of measurement, and not completely standardized.

"Fu-Pow is Dead" - phrase - loosely translated as 'no really, I've changed my name. Seriously. I have. Let me tell you again. Look, Fu-Pow's still dead. Still dead again. Has anybody heard that Fu-Pow is dead yet? Nice weather we're having oh did you hear that Fu-Pow is dead? Nope, no more Fu-Pow. Not any longer. Won't ever have to see that name again. Only a seance could bring Fu-Pow back now...

Hey, did you hear that Fu-Pow is dead?'

Chafing? What's going through your head? I'm as smooth and fresh as my clean shaven face. I don't chafe.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (disambiguation)

Usage amongst MMA practitioners- A formidable system of combat that focuses on groundwork and submission. Not without its limits, it is able to help "fill in the gaps" in one's combat range proficiency, but comes with the recommendation that you become well rounded in striking as well. An art that does not focus on brute strength, but on sensitivity and refined technique.

Usage for MMA practitioners talking to TMA practitioners-
The only system of combat you'll ever need. The specifics depend on the situation.
1)If a TMAist says "Hey, doesn't BJJ use lots of sensitivity, yielding, and technique?" then BJJ is a system of combat that focuses on intense conditioning, strength and power.
2) If a TMAist says "Hey, doesn't BJJ focus on strength and power over technique?" then BJJ is a system of combat that focuses on sensitivity, knowing when to yield and apply leverage, and on refined technique.

Usage for TMA practitioners talking to MMA practitioners-
An unnecessary system of combat that will be easily defeated by either dropping into Horse Stance, or going up on one leg, or by that elbow-drop technique you have never practiced on an opponent. Chi blasts may also be used. Since many TMA practioners get their information about BJJ from MMA practitioners on message boards, they are also led to believe that BJJ training sexually frustrates its practitioners, causing them to make unnecessarily caustic, dogmatic, rude posts on the internet. This is not necessarily true, however. Most people who make such posts very rarely train, as evidenced by the frequency of their posts.

Rear Mount a position used in ground-grappling that, while potentially advantageous in an altercation, looks like it could have been inspired by a scene from a XXX-rated prison film.
