maybe across the pond they're not thought of highly; but seeing some of the stuff that's come out of the UK the last decade, I'm not sure I'd mind.

Like becca, I'm still wondering why metal heads would like them.

"worst bands ever" is kind of funny. I listen to any kind of music i can get my hands on and Black Parade was one of the best albums that's come out over the last year. Saw them live with Linkin Park about 2 months ago and eventho LP was the headliner, it's pretty safe to say that MCR blew 'em off stage- and I'm just as huge a LP fan.

Knowing what you UK people eat, it's not surprising you guys have no taste. :p

It's a preference thing. If we all liked the same music, there wouldn't be near enough choises out there for those of us who like a bit of very thing. Minor Threat's a great band but their lyrics were juvenile by comparison.

See, a big reason I'm sticking up for MCR is because when I listen to them I don't get that vibe. To me, it just sounds like interesting personal stories with a bit of a emotion behind them. I don't get the sense that he's really complaining about his situation.

After what I went through last year; ie. having someone run off and marry someone else without telling me, only saying she "might come back", the lyrics "well when you go, would you have the guts to say 'i don't love you, like i loved you yesterday'?" really resonate and have pulled me out of some bad times.

If you force me to sit down and listen to something like Smile Empty Soul or Deathcab for Cutie, the first thought that pops in my head is: "gawd, would this guy just shut the heck up!?!? quit whining!"

I offset any of the depressive vibe with healthy doses of hip hop, Tiger Army (psychobilly love songs), Dropkick Murphys, AC/DC, and other stuff that gets you going.

I find it interesting that Social D has lyrics that are often just as dark, but doesn't take half the flak over being "emo". Guess image really is everything.
