Can someone speak to the significance of identifying a tradition as "Seven Star"? Is this an alternate way of saying "northern"? Thoughts?

LKY claimed to be teaching only Mantis in Ching Wu, he didn't said he was teaching 7 stars Mantis. Yet most of his students agreed that they belonged to 7 stars. WHF had a different saying, he feeled that what LKY handed down to him not only 7 stars, there were MuiFA , Kwong Bon and Fan Chai's Shou Fat in the forms. So if he just said 7 stars it is too limited himself, so he better just said what he teach is "Northern Mantis". Although one of a old group photo of WHF and his students showing a 7 stars flag as background, he said just for good looking only.

The whole purpose at Chin Woo was to unite. Probably the same principle was carried over in naming systems within the organization.

Maybe this is why Qixing Tanglang became known as Tanglang.

Maybe this is why Er Lang Men became known as Bei Shaolin, or just Northern Shaolin.

Maybe why Wu Taiji became Taiji.

Maybe why Ying Zhua Fanzi Men became just Eagle Claw.

Later on in HK the southern system of Praying Mantis was also practiced quite a bit, so it probably made good sense to distinguish Qixing Tanglang simply as Bei Tanglang (Northenr Mantis). Northern Mantis and Southern Mantis for the laymen.

Yes I am missing this important point, due to there was southern mantis at that time, so WHF name himself as northern mantis.

[Qixing Tanglang]

Anyone who trained / trains under the LGY family knows it is QXTL pure and simple. Anyone else under the umbrella Fan Xudong family lineage knows LGY trained and taught QXTL. To state anything else is just absurd.

WHF learned QXTL from LGY. He had the QXTL banner hanging on his wall for one reason and one reason only...that is what he trained. Sorry but stories saying that he just liked the looks of it are silly.
