Just a 'little idea' for you all, as we all like to have a laugh at the embarrassing clips, why not put a link to a decent one!?

I'll let the regulars lead...

I have a few , but my instructor prefers not to 'perform' only 'tastes' ....
I send them to specific people who will benefit from watching VT in action, and not reply with mantra's or bigfoot hasnt been found responses :D lmao

OH OH ... i had a road rage fight once while xing the street a car honked me, I flipped him off, he got out and charged me onto this other guys car hood, who didnt like that at all, so as the other guy got back to his car this 'freak' 7ft tall guy UNFOLDS :D and tries to kick me, i had to do a hop back and go in punching the 'sky' :D didnt even know if I touched ...everyone went on their way and I had a large 'mouse' over my eye from contact of some kind many years ago I might add :o the girls loved it so wounds can be beneficail for 'pulling'..."life is strange, when it gets really weird, the weird turn pro" [ I think H. S. Thompson said that, or something like it :D]

I thought Facebook was an example of how to NOT do threads, but this site may win in the stupidity stakes. Why can't anyone just stick to the subject of the thread???

Before this goes any further I may as well start:

Allow me T...

It's a form... Forms are not fighting or application of such--WCK, only a text book... Therefore, this example though it is by the late Grand Master, cannot be evaluated as "good" or "bad" since no actual WCK expression/application is seen...

Sorry, but T's version of this would have been WAAAAY longer.. :D (got to know the board)

Personally, even though I don't like him, I like Emin's stuff, even if it is strictly demos and WC VS WC only.

I can only presume you are referring to the clip of Yip Man here, and I can actually see where you're coming from with this bold statement. I do feel that maybe it isn't just about one man though, as it seems a little unfair to blame Yip Man for students' understanding, when the majority never got taught by him and hadn't even started training during his lifetime. We are all responsible, and we owe it to ourselves to wake up and stop being so 'clueless'.

The real scary thing is, if he had known that Wing Chun would grow so much do you think he would have tried to do anything different? What would have happend if there was no 'Bruce Lee'?

Getting back to the thread, is ANYONE going to recommend any other decent clips of Wing Chun on Youtube???

What do you think of this clip, taken from the DVD Extras of 'Descendant of Wing Chun'

IMO he did what he did specifically BECAUSE he did "know"...:rolleyes:

Its common to drop Ip man's name by all sorts of people who really did not have indepth instruction from him.
BTW the commonly shown clips were taken justa few days before Ip Man passed away after his illness. Not really instructional videos. But can be informative to trained eyes.

I dont know why you hada link to "Descndants of wing chun"-good grief...thats all I can think of to say.

There have been lots of clips posted in earlier threads, which you would do well to search.

They are generally poo-pooed by KF and Terence, as you can see via a similar search.

Forgive the general lack of enthusiasm for being dragged on to the same boring merry go round by your newcomer's niaive enthusiasm, yet again.

The real scary thing is, if he had known that Wing Chun would grow so much do you think he would have tried to do anything different?

Frankly, he made a complete balls-up of such basic managerial tasks such as naming successors or endorsing qualified instructors, and his teaching methods and material were terribly inconsistent. I would hope he would have done things differently had he had his time over, as it's hard to believe he could have done it much worse. Not to say he didn't have skills, just that he demonstrated none in the areas mentioned.

This one's even better IMO, same guy closer quarters. A good example of clean, strict Wing Chun (not a all out street fight), http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=84_BXI-e73A&mode=related&search= . Notice the Wu and Bong action, with structure in play :)

I guess that's all you wanna see, so-called knifefighter lol! I was half expecting some mad critical analysis of the interpretaion, but you obviously know nothing about Wing Chun...

Ever 'fought' against someone who has actually trained their Wooden Man, Form or Weaponry like this clip shows?

Not saying they are the best clips by far, but I did put them up a while back and would appreciate any feedback and discussion on the content of my clips on youtube

I took a Wing Chun class (Moy Yat line), but the basic stance didn't do anything for me. Maybe my prior knee problems just get in the way too much for a narrow stance with turned in knees. I like the upper body work, though I'd have to use a wider stance along the lines of the Pan Nam clips if I ever got back into it:

I feel that this clip needs to be here, as its classic British television!!

Some guys in these scenes became household names here and Simon Lau was hailed as a phenomenon after his local club was seen publically for the first time...
