kinda looked like he was beating up on a student in the kickboxing/boxing part.
the body shot may have taken the fight out of the guy, but they definitely seemed to have different concepts of acceptable contact level. heckuva rabbit punch in there too.

Uh...so you guys gonna put up any vids of your magic?

You're all ready to come down on this guy, but none of you really have anything comparable to show?

pffft.

Chau's kungfu is fine.

Looks southern to me. Some sort of Hakka CLF hybred maybe?

So making a legitimate comment about punching the back of the dude's head & going apesh!t when the other guy seems like he just wants a light spar means I gotta post my own videos?

Normally it wouldn't be a huge deal, but I'm not going to be physically capable of making a video until I finish my relocation- taking some time off from the gym until I get resettled.

I was being general pork chop.

Your comments are your comments, however, Chau's kungfu is legit and as you can see, it is inclusive of application study to a fairly hearty degree.

I kinda roll my eyes when people post this and it gets jumped on and then it's back to the reems and streams of endless panty wringing about how kungfu never does this or never does that etc etc.

I am wondering why some think he has nerve? or why it looks made up? jeez, all kungfu "looks" made up.

It is weird to me that this is a kungfu forum, that has made a concession and opened an mma forum and yet, there is a persistence in the baiting and insulting of chinese martial arts.

Anyway, just saying.

IMO dudging whether someone 'has' good kungfu from some internet video is pretty much weak.

Sure you can get some idea of what they do, but to actually know how 'legit' someone is, you gotta go meet them.

When did this change to "video is all inclusive" ?

People that think a short video tells all....need to go out into the world a bit more.

All I have to say is, I had headphones on the floor, heard music from the video, couldn't tell what it was. *unplugs headphones so music comes out of stereo* "LOL OF COURSE IT'S THIS SONG"

hes a lot of nerve putting up that . lolputting up what? all of the contact clips are from 93...he an old man now, looks like his sons are competing, but i don't think he was braging in the clips just highlighting what he does...

anyway kung lek dude has nice stance work you agree?...some of the tightest i've seen on you tube....any naysers have better kung fu they can demo?...i got a good punch, but my stances aren't impeccable...therefore i don't own my power...i can scrap but not like i could if i mastered form.

I don't know Chau personally, but I personally know and am good friends with one of his students who is now a sifu and runs a good club in London just outside of Toronto. They regularly compete in Sanda and have a very application/pressure test way of going about their kungfu.

maybe that's why it looks different to some? lol j/k

It is also for this reason that I do understand the "worth" of what is shown. :)

Not sure why people say it looks fake. A lot of snake lookin stuff there in the first form. Some of the sequences seemed slightly disjointed- which maybe gives it a little of the "freestyle performance" look. In the clips it looked like he mighta been a lil stiff, but can't say for sure from such a short clip. I don't think it was bad.

Interestingly, as far as his stances go; watching it the first time I actually said to myself "if this guy was white, doing the form the exact same way, i bet people would complain about his stance". I think he definitely looks balanced in his stances, which is a lot more important than depth. The 360 at the bottom of the pistol was pretty sweet, but definitely reserved for people of that build.

Overall, I kinda think that's generally how TCMA should be practiced: be able to look pretty and throw down when it's time to play; meanwhile filling in holes in your game with other stuff.

Right now I'm liking this clip:

In our school, if your kids are very talented and trained hard, they may be tested once or twice in a year. You want your kids to learn the true value of martial arts, not by giving out your hard earned money for buying them. Success is achieved by those who train hard, not by because parents can afford to pay for them.
